Mexico-Croatia is going to be a really good game; I think Mexico will get the result they need, but it should be entertaining stuff.

Who's everybody got today? I've got Columbia, England, and a draw in the Greece/Japan game.

Does every group get an auto-bid to the knockout round, or does it just usually work out that way?

Every group advances two teams to the knock out round. This is the point of the group stage. To determine who advances.

What happens if the entire group is deadlocked, both in record and GF/GA? I know that's extremely unlikely, but there must be a rule in place for it.

I was asking if there are auto-bids per group, or if it was just top 16 teams out of the 32

it's called tie breakers.

Here is the rule for the ranking of the teams in the Group Stage of the World Cup, from Article 41 of the Regulations, 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

COMPETITION

The league format shall be used: each team playing one match against each of the other teams in the same group, with three points for a win, one point for a draw and none for a defeat.

The ranking of each team in each group shall be determined as follows:

a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;

b) goal difference in all group matches;

c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows:

d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the

teams concerned;

e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams

concerned;

f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams

concerned;

g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organizing Committee.

The teams that qualify from the group stage will play the round of sixteen.

what the F is an auto bid? They are playing games right now to determine who goes to the next round. This is how tournaments work.

Drawing of lots, like every other tiebreaker. This is not hard to google, btw.

I'm on my phone on the beach. Asking on here is more interesting than googling

There's a "Selection Monday" after the group stages are over. Come on, everyone knew that.

Are these announcers showing a little England bias here? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Well they are British, one of which played for England.
