Cubs bumping everybody again for the off day Thursday with Z insisting on going on normal rest.

I love how 24-year-olds are the most qualified to determine when they're ready.

It won't be long before Dusty plays the "we owe it to the other contending teams to play our best players" card. :x

Too bad Dusty doesn't know who the best players are.

True, but even Dusty knows Zambrano is good and he's going to pitch him into the ground.

Did Pagan play Everett's triple really poorly or was it just me? Didn't think there was anyway that was going for more than a double, but Pagan ran into the wall on a ball that hit 15 feet up.

He fell down he did indeed play it poorly.

You know reporters are going to ask idiot face why he took out Mateo after cruising along with 78 pitches. So lets try to think of funny excuses that he might use.

My guess:

"Who is Juan Mateo? I don't know where he came from. I don't know how many pitches he's used to throwing"

"Dude was dealin, but thanks to Z's career-ruining night last night, I had plenty of solid veterns to save the game for the Rook. He's young. But then of course, we have to tip our caps to them Astros. The played real well."

You suck, Wuertz.

Don't blame Weurtz..blame Dusty who kept him in the game.

What do you mean by kept him in the game? He faced what, three batters? It's not Dusty's fault that Wuertz couldn't get people out.

after the Ausmus walk I stated Dusty needed to pull Weurtz..I knew he wouldn't get out of the inning.

That isn't 2nd guessing..thats 1st guessing. Sometimes you can tell

when a guy doesn't have it. Weurtz isn't that bad..but tonight he was simiply not affective. Its baseball..its happens..good managers realize it...bad ones sit in the dugout..suck a toothpick..and pray for the best.

Dusty's Theriot nonsense seems to fit this well:

"I really can't say because I wasn't around to see where he came from exactly"

Will Theriot get bonus points from Dusty for being the sacrificial lamb, or will he be treated like Adam Greenberg and get unceremoniously demoted to AAA in favor of Bynum?

My guess is the latter.

how about a little honesty...

"the guy on the mound is a notorious head hunter who just got beaned and I didn't want to expose my pitcher to an obvious retaliatory beaning.
