Dusty is an idiot. A 2-4 performance with a homer and 2 RBI should not get Murton benched.

For once I'm not so sure Dusty is wrong. In an ideal universe Murton and Pagan would play as much as possible but Jones is the rightfielder and you can't just tell him to sit on the bench for long periods of time to give the kids more PT. Maybe you can sit him more in September, but I don't think there's any more Dusty can do.

 

Couldn't Pagan be tried in Center Field? After all, he's really fast. I like his bat better than Pierre's at this point.

It's too bad Pagan got hurt earlier this year. What will Hendry do with both Pagan and Murton this offseason?

 

I wouldn't mind a Pagan/Jones platoon in center, or a Murton/Jones platoon at a corner. Heck, as long as the OF doesn't involve Juan Pierre, we're going in the right direction.

 

First: Seeing as Pagan is a switch-hitter why couldn't he be a platoon partner for BOTH Murton and Jones?

 

Second: I hate to break it to you, but Pierre should be back in 2007. And overpaid at that. You know Hendry will try to justify that trade by keeping Pierre for atleast another 2 years.

This Paulino kid is impressive.

 

Impressive for a #8 hitter.

 

Well, impressive for a catcher too.

 

The NL Central has some pretty good hitting catchers this year; Ross has been good in Cincy, Barrett for us, Paulino for Pittsburgh.

I do believe he played center in the minors, although most reference sites list his position simply as "OF."

 

Of course, there are some here who would say trying him in CF would be a disaster since he's a corner OF now and corner OF's can't play CF...
