I'm pumped for the game tonight. Hopefully we can tighten up the tackling and hopefully Rex will show some improvement tonight.

How bout show SOMETHING...I like Rex, but I'm leaning towards Grieseball at this point. I can't figure out why I like Rex either, he hasn't done anything....ever.

I think that's kind of the point though. The Bears drafted this kid seemingly forever ago, and through most of that, he's been injured and unable to show whether potential translates into actual on-field talent. He showed some of that after his return last season, and I think the Bears feel like they need to find out what they have. Griese is there if Grossman falls on his face.

I was completely opposed to the Grossman pick. But for some reason, I kind of like him now, even though he hasn't done much of anything.

I think every Bears fan feels like this. I love Grossman even though he hasn't done anything. I don't know why.

Matthews, Wuerrfel (sp?), Miller, McNown, Stewart, Orton, Chandler, etc. is why we love Grossman. Our list of QB's has been so dreadful that we will blindly cling to any hope that we have of good quarterbacking until they have demonstrated how horribly bad they are at the game. Its a tiny little ray of light, but its all we got. Plus I think a lot of people like Rex's gunslinger/big play attitude after years of check-down and then dump-off weak armed Sallies running the offense.

PICKUP GAME: Buffalo claimed linebacker Joe Odom off waivers, two days after the Bears released him. Bills coach Dick Jauron was the Bears' coach when Odom was drafted in 2003.

The two can fail together in Buffalo. Good riddance, Odom was just taking up space.

We don't have the supporting cast. Fans can not realistically expect a QB to become a star in this town when there's nothing but junk on the receiving end. Not very logical. But---Grossman will still be blamed if he fails, as will Griese after him, and so on and so on forever.

Meanwhile the WRs and TEs in this town continue to get a free pass. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I think you're way off.

The WR and TE positions have received an incredible amount of scrutiny. People realize Rex isn't working with the 99 Rams offense here. Grossman will be blamed if he fails, as he should. But he won't get all the blame.

Especially if Moose is dropping passes that last season he could pass off on Orton...

50% chance of rain throughout the game tonight.

Both Mannings are starting again.

And we'll see how much the offense gets opened up.

Brown and Vasher out? Hrm... They both said they'd be ready to go for the season but I'm still not liking.

Less worried about Vasher than Brown.

Do you offer the Pats a 2nd or 3rd for Deion Branch? It's tempting. I think he is one of those guys who might have acutally had his numbers limited by the Pats offense, and Brady's ability to spread the ball around. The only concern is th money he wants with Olin, Tommy Harris, Vasher, and Briggs needing new deals in the next 2 years.

If the Bears get Branch they could have the best offense in the division. They would have the best 1/2 receiver...1/2 running backs...probably the 2nd best O-Line, and no QB in the division is clearly better than a Rex/Griese combo (Favre still might be).

The Defense is Super Bowl worthy. If the Bears can score 17-20 a game they could win 13-14 games this year. Getting Branch goes a long way towards scoring 17-20 a game.

I'd certainly much rather have Branch than Lelie...

I don't think we need a receiver. Between Muhammad, Berrian, Davis and Bradley (not even counting Gage) we have enough quality WRs.

And yet we were just talking a few pages back about how people agreed with Foxsports.com that the Bears receiving was last in the league.

Bradley is coming off major knee surgery. I dont think you can count on him being the #2 receiver.

Berrian, is probably going to be that #2 receiver, with Davis being the slot receiver.

Muhammad, will continue to drop passes as the Bears #1 receiver.

Exactly, we are stuck with Muhammad. Davis will be a slot receiver, and Berrian has looked very good for most of camp (with him yet to really show it in the games). Bradley will be a fallback option and most people would agree that he has potential. Worse comes to worse we have Gage.

The point was, theres really no spot to play Branch unless you want to hinder Berrian and Bradley's progress.

According to WBBM, they're really going to try to get the TE the ball tonight. On the defensive side of the ball, they're going to mix things up a tad with the LBers.

Davis dropped 10-15lb in the off-season. Lets see if that will make a difference. :)

Unacceptable coverage on 3rd and 22. Manning has to step up there.

Hopefully Brown is okay. It looked like a left arm/hand issue.
