Balls out move by Kenny, but if you have a chance to win a title, you do whatever it takes. Smart.

They seem to need pitching. I'm not quite sure this is the great move the previous posters have insinuated it to be. Sure they can win games 10-5 right now, but come post-season, pitching usually always triumphs. And getting rid of McCarthy doesn't bode well for the staff.

Sox have certainly showed who the better, more powerful, dominant and better organized team in Chicago is

Seems like only yesterday it was US making the big deadline deal two years ago. People were saying the same thing about the Cubs with the acquisition of Nomar.

Well when you're allowed to just assume things like the comments in parantheses, it sure works well.

If Buehrle continues to have a down year (like he is)

Contrares

Garland (up and down, up and down = question mark)

Vazques (not good at all this year)

Garcia (not good at all this year)

If I make those parantheses, then I don't see giving up McCarthy for a rental as as good an idea as some of you do.

This not going to be the final piece to win them another World Series. Getting a Jason Schmidt type pitcher would be the final piece. And why are they getting rid of one of their better bullpen guys?

ESPN Radio says McDougal is a done deal.

I think Williams thinks he has to wn with hitting this year and hope that his staff as it currently exists gets its act together.

Bullpen guys aren't who decide winners and losers, and they are easier to find/replace than solid position players.

Soriano would be a huge boost to the Sox. In exchange for a middle reliever for an all-star you have to be insane not to take that trade. Then they turn around and can trade for McDougal for a Minor League player gives you a great chance to make a good run at back to back WS. And that drives me crazy, I can't believe things have changed so quick.

I'm done trying to question the moves of Williams and the Sox. Try as I might, you have to give the guy his props. While we trade major league relievers for no name struggling A pitchers, KW lands a 40-40 threat for a guy who currently is sporting a 4+ ERA. Now, I know he has all of this potential, but as we have come to experience from our ace prospects, it's just that, potential.

Wow that lineup if they land Soriano is just filthy, one of the most sickest ever... They wil lwin the series again no doubt, even if theyre pitching sucks, theyll still be putting up 10 runs a game with that lineup.. I am disgusted and embarrased to be a Cubs fan...The GM across town is the real deal always looking for superstars while our GM is a stubborn piece of crap looking for garbage washed up players that wont take us anywhere...How can hendry tolerate this... the Sox own the city and that is all... Screw this whole damn Cubs franchise

These are all big game pitchers...You know that they are going to turn it on when it counts. They proved that last year.

Historically, Buerhle is better then he pitched. I will give you that he has in the past had a random off season that to my knowledge was never quite explained.

Garland is up and down, for long stretches. We have seen him pitch brilliantly for as long as a half of a season. He looked terrible the second half of last year and the first half of this year. It's more of a stretch than Buerhle, but its certainly very plausable that he's put it together for the second half.

The other two suck of course, but you only need one of them to be decent to be alright in the playoffs.

Bottom line is that the White Sox are turning into a juggernaut. They had a pretty good farm system that their latest success has caused them to abandon ship to win now. Well they have one WS in their hands and are threatening for another one. This is the winning now mentality that they have.

Face it, McCarthy is going to be a starter, not a reliever. Plus he has been extremely inconsistant as a reliever this year. Would you really want basically a rookie pitching out of your pen as one of your more important setup guys down the stretch, or would you take an established pitcher like MacDougal? Not that tough of a decision to make.

The Sox have a surplus of starting pitching, both in the bigs and in the minors. It seems as if Williams has decided he's keeping Garcia and Vazquez long term though if he does trade McCarthy. He's taking a big gamble, but I'm pretty sure he's going to try to do everything to re-sign Soriano in the offseason.

Last year, he spoke out against getting AJ Burnett because he didn't want a guy for 2 months. Obviously Burnett commanded a high contract. Soriano will too, but I believe the Sox have the funding now where they can afford to pay Soriano after this season as well.

Well don't forget Kenny actually has talent to trade. We don't.

Because they did it once they will always do it? You can't prove you will turn it on when it counts, you can only prove that you have done it in the past. But it's not like they stunk throughout 2005 and flipped a switch, they were pretty good all year long.

I'm sure most or all of that starting staff won't duplicate last years numbers but they won't have to with this lineup. Put it this way I like thier chances...
