On ESPN News they just said Lee was put on the DL today. It was during the fantasy baseball segment so I don't know if it was in real life or in their fantasy league. Anyone know if this is true?

WSCR is reporting it too. The Riot is back, just in time to sit on the bench.

Ugh. Isn't there a rule that he can't be called up for 10 days after being sent down?

The caveat to that rule is injuries they can be called up again due to injuries.

I think DLee was as much responsible for coming back quickly as the coaching staff if not more

Stupid coaching staff still made the final decision. Shouldn't let a player who has never been seriously injured and doesn't know how his body would respond with his wrist not at 100% make the decision.

This is just like the argument of those who want to blame Prior for staying in the game in 2003 after his collision, or Wood for wanting to pitch out of the bullpen last year. It's NOT up to them. It wasn't Wood's decision to make. It wasn't Derrek's. Players should ALWAYS want to play.

Management and coaching is responsible for it. Period.

Man, this team is a complete mess! Might as well shut dlee and prior down for the rest of the season. Neither is healthy...

Boy, would that ever be sweet if the bone didn't set properly because Hendry was convinced this team was one good run away from wildcard contention.

This orgnization is beyond clueless. Please, somebody buy this organization and clean house. Bring some accountability back to this circus of carte-blanche.

From rotoworld.com...Pretty funny:

Cubs placed first baseman Derrek Lee on the 15-day disabled list with post-traumatic inflammation of his right wrist.

It looks like Cubs have mishandled yet another injured player. Lee might be back in 15 days, but it's anyone's guess how much of an impact he'll make the rest of the way. The Cubs will go back to using Phil Nevin and Todd Walker at first base for now. If either or both is traded, it might be that John Mabry will also see time at first. Neifi Perez and Ryan Theriot will get Walker's playing time at second base. Jul. 24 - 4:06 pm et

Which one of Nevin/Walker is now off the block?

Does it make a difference. You weren't going to get much of anything for Walker or Nevin.

Worst organization ever. When was the last time a guy actually was healthy after coming off the DL? The Cubs are always in a rush to get "their horses" back. I don't see other organizations having the same problems that the Cubs have regularly.

Now its time to bring back Womack just like they did when he originally went down. I would rather see an old Womack play then an old Nefi who might do good for 2 or 3 games and make the Cubs keep them again next year.
