The context he said it in wasn't necessarily dissing the Cubs. He said that responding to the question that was something like "How do you feel about playing these big games against the Cubs"

There is a youtube video of it somewhere.

Correct, I believe he said that after the millionth reporter asked if the Cubs/Sox series was more important than any other series. Of course it isn't, so he said F the Cubs.

Ozzie rips on Wrigley Field, which is understandable. Not the Cubs.

Ozzie is an uncouth, abrasive, obnoxious, bigoted, foul-mouthed idiot. Which is understandable.

Yeah, he's really spoiled playing in that half-empty, historic, vibrant baseball mecca known as the Cell. Speaking of which, have I missed 2006's Mullet Night?

Uncouth, possibly. Abrasive, most definitely. Obnoxious? Not so much. Bigoted, no way. Foul mouthed, of course.

Idiot? Far from it.

The Sox have sold more tickets thant he Cubs this season. The Sox had the 2nd most wins in the 90's and a World Series championship team playing in Sox Park.

Mullet night is on Friday actually. I've never been, but it sounds like a fun time.

I'm not going to troll, but if you want to rip on the Sox you need to find some better ways than that. I'm just here to talk baseball.

I think his comment about Mariotti and then his follow-up response proved otherwise.

Bigoted, no way.

What was it he said about Mariotti again? Isolated incident, probably. Wait, was there something about Magglio? Probably just twice. Huh? ARod and Nomar too?

If you think Ozzie was insinuating that Jay was gay, you are mistaken. This subject has been beaten to death, so I find it hard to believe people still think Ozzie was calling him gay. It's a word people use nowadays. It doesn't even mean gay anymore. The people who were the LEAST offended by this was the gay community.

Players, coaches, and White Sox fans all love the guy. It's the fans of every other team that seem to hate him. Must be ring envy. Go figure.

Ring envy? Does that also explain why Giants fans like Bonds? I didn't like Ozzie as a player, and I despised him when he coached with the Marlins long before the playoffs or WS. It has absolutely nothing to do with the ring.

You are mistaken to think that Ozzie is this misunderstood cute and cuddly teddy bear that the media and jealous, rabid fans have painted into a monster. The gay community didn't care about Ozzie's comments because the gay community either already sees Ozzie as a bigot or more likely, just doesn't give a damn about him or his opinions.

No, we don't think Ozzie was calling Mariotti a homosexual. That's not the offensive part. The offensive part is that he used a homosexual slur to imply Marriotti is "less of a man", thereby implying that is what he thought of homosexuals. His use of it means he is either an idiot or a bigot or likely both.

I doubt it is ring envy. Maybe it's homerism that White Sox players, coaches and fans can't see the obnoxious neanderthal in the dugout.

I remember laughing at some of the childish things a few of my drunk friends once did until I thought of how really stupid they were. Why did it take me long to see it? Because they were my friends and I didn't want to see it. That's probably the Sox problem with Ozzie. While the rest of the civilized world realized what an imbecile and bigot he is, his own just can't.

Since when?

Good question JR. Maybe it happened in that parallel universe where Ozzie is a classy, open-minded genius.

According to the figures I have, the Cubs have outsold the world champs by 35,849...in 4 less games. The Cubs average about 4 thousand more per game.
