I live in Detroit and although I'm a diehard Cubs fan, I go watch the Tigers quite regularly. I've been to 10 games this year, last night being the last one. They are 9-1 with their only loss coming in the 9th on a Friday night against Boston. Damn, this is a team. No real "superstars" but a SOLID group of guys with a few very good veteran leaders that goes out every night, plays their butts off, and wins. I so wish we could have a team that is as consistant as the Tigers are this year. I love watching these guys, and I think they've become my 2nd favorite team. They're well coached and play smart baseball. It's fun going to Comerica. I absolutely love it, especially in this season of Dusty. It's definitely helped with my Cubs frustrations!

A great coach and a good philosophy can make a HUGE difference. The Tigers of 2006 aren't that different from 2005. Except they win! Just antoehr reason to fire Dusty cause the Cubs would be considerably better without him.

This just isn't true.

Yup, definitely not true.

yeah, that 2005 era of 4.51 is a spitting image of this year's 3.47.

I think he was talking about personel...

Still may not be true, just pointing that out.

My favorite thing about this team so far though is that although they have great pitching, they seem to get down early and come back later in the game to win.

That is fun baseball. I have extra innings, but still find myself watching the Tigers on the local Fox Sports now more than the Cubs that I paid to have Extra Innings for. The season it started out all Cubs on the TV, but hell.. I can't bear to watch anymore.

Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya have gone a long way in helping this club out. Ditto Chris Shelton coming out of nowhere at the beginning of the year.

We'll see how they do down the stretch. Some of these guys have never played this many games before in a season.

Having a very good GM, Dave Dombrowski, helps, too. Oh, yeah, I forgot the owner did state when he purchased the team that he wanted to bring good baseball back to Detroit and field a winner. I don't think I've ever heard Dennis FitzSimmons say that.

I'm waiting for the Tigers to go into a bit of a slump. I think the White Sox will end up winning the division and the Tigers the Wild Card but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Tigers missed the playoffs altogether. Don't think the latter will happen but it is a possibility.

I ALSO JUST MOVED TO DETROIT. I GO TO QUITE A BIT OF GAMES HERE. THE STADIUM IS AMAZING TO WATCH A GAME IN. WAY BETTER TO WATCH A GAME FOR ME THAN WRIGLEY(I LOVE WRIGLEY BUT THE "MYSTIC" ONLY GOES SO FAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN THERE 50 TIMES). !!!AS FAR AS JUST GOING TO WATCH A GAME GOES!!! I DONT WANT TO BE VIRTUALLY MOBBED. COMERICA IS NOT "BETTER" THAN WRIGLEY OVERALL.

I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE BEST BASEBALL HERE THAT I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE(IM FROM MILWAUKEE, EXPLAINS IT ALL). INCLUDING CURTIS GRANDERSON'S BOTTOM OF THE NINTH TWO OUT 0-2 OPPOSITE FIELD HOME RUN THAT HIT THE FOUL POLE TO SEND IT TO EXTRAS AGAINST THE REDS.

I ALWAYS GO HOME AND WISH THAT MY INTEGRITY AND STUPIDTY DIDNT PRECLUDE ME FROM GOING FULL OUT TIGERS. I WISH YOU ALL HAD THE CHANCE TO GO SEE THEM PLAY ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT TAKES THE STING OUT OF THE CUBS CRAP SEASON(WELL A LITTLE BIT ANYWAY).[/i]

Hahaha! You're just jealous because you don't have the same kind of team to watch in Denver! Actually, I would be fine if the cubs were around .500, but I really can't bare to watch anymore. The stupidity of this team and management doesn't even get me pissed off anymore. The Tigers are just the fill in for now.

It's not true in the sense that thier kid pitchers came of age this year. The staff ERA is the best in the AL. It always comes down to pitching.
