FYI, Prior is definitely not pitching in this game. Cubs.com has now updated the article they had about Prior kicking off the series (it's now replaced with Marmol)

I wonder why Prior was pushed back, and why there hasn't been any explanation given by the Cubs. It's like the Cubs were hoping no one would notice the change.

I could be wrong, but I think they moved Prior back because the Twins pushed Bonser's start back a day. I don't think the Cubs ever wanted Prior to oppose Santana; I think they're trying to keep the pressure off him to be at his best while also giving themselves the best chance to win.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has decided to move Boof Bonser's start to Saturday. This will keep Santana, who started Sunday against the Pirates, on five days rest.

I guess that makes sense. I feel bad for Marmol though. The Cubs' offense isn't even gonna give him a chance tommorow against Santana.

Did the Cubs move Prior back a day? Cubs.com has Marmol's picture for the next game. Carlos is also featured in the probable starters section. If so, I like it.

HAHAHAHA. On Saturday the Cubs will be facing a guy named Boof.

And he will shut us out.

Someone tell me why I shouldn't bet an insane amount on the Twins.

Because the Cubs will rally around Jacque in his return to Minnesota. Finally, the Cubs have something to play for and will not squander this opportunity.

"You've got to play more of a speed/defense team there," manager Dusty Baker said. "Because that turf, boy, presents problems for those that are not fleet of foot. It's a faster game. It's a real fast game."

How could you even begin to construct that lineup. I might do

Walker

Womack

Jones

Nevin

White

Cedeno

Bynum

Pierre

Dusty would do

Pierre

Womack

Walker

Nevin

Cedeno

Bynum

Jones

You know, UMF, even in the American League, they use 9 players in the lineup.

Prior is probably hurt. Crap. And just picked him up on my fantasy team.

On a side note, our bullpen is really well rested.

Why even play Prior? I'd just shut him down and get him ready for next year. We aren't going anywhere...

The Cubs remain dead last in the majors against lefties with a .228/.291/.362 line. Johan has given up exactly one run in each of his last four starts. This won't be pretty.

Has anyone scored negative runs in a game ever?

Yep, because the 1991 World Champion Twins were speed demons!

Kent Hrbek

Dan Gladden

Mike Pagliarulo

Gary Gaetti(was he on this team?)

Scott Leius

Brian Harper

Chili Davis(older and near retirement)

These are some of the main guys I can think and in terms of speed Kirby Puckett, Chuck Knoblauch, and Shane Mack.

Not really a roster built on speed and this was their home park. Someone please tell Dusty.

Because, as we've learned in the past, the Cubs front office will never admit that they are out of the playoff race. It would be way too smart to shut down Prior for the rest of the year and let him work things out before next year, but the Cubs will never do it.

I'm expecting Hendry to add some band-aid piece like Trot Nixon to platoon with Murton in LF, and hope the additions of Lee and Prior will help this crappy team make a run.

Pucket was hardly a speed demon. And yes, Gaetti was on the 1991 twins...and the 1987 twins. Gladden actually stole more bases then Puckett usually did.

"You've got to play more of a speed/defense team there," manager Dusty Baker said. "Because that turf, boy, presents problems for those that are not fleet of foot. It's a faster game. It's a real fast game."

Lots of Bynum and Neifi!!! Oh boy!!!

But, Puckett was pretty quick in terms of tracking down balls in center, so I left him off the slow list. He would get those short legs moving and make some nice catches.

Tonight is the one game this weekend I'm not going to. The lefty factor, and the fact that it is this lefty, makes me believe the Cubs will be lucky to score one run. Both Bonser and Radke have been sporadic. Frankly, Radke has seemed a bit Rusch-like--giving up large amounts of runs sometimes. I think the Cubs have a chance tomorrow and Sunday, but given how the Twins have been playing of late (won 9 of 10), I don't think the lovable losers have got much chance tonight.

Dusty's a f'in (pardon my language) idiot. The Metrodome went to field-turf 3 years ago. It's the Astro-Play stuff that is the best resemblance to natural grass. Yet another excuse to play his boys...
