I say yes, this is the game that turns our fortunes around by starting a series win against the Cards that results in a Baker extension.

The good luck couldn't last forever.

No. What's sad is we won this despite dusty. How stupid is it to keep marshall in the game in the 6th when we had the perfect scoring opportunity to use a good pinch hitter there.

Dump dustbag and maybe we have a chance.

Was anyone else hoping that Dusty had to use Rusch out of the pen so that they would have to recall someone from Iowa to start?

YES!!!

But then we would have just lost today and had a chance to loose again today. Atleast we won today with no chance to win today.

The Cubs will lose 8-1 tomorrow. I won't be convinced the Cubs can make a run until they consistantly work the count and draw walks. Unfortunately thats not gonna happen.

Anyone else getting really tired of all the double switches? It's amazing the amount of stupid double switches that this man performs. Drives me nuts.

If you are tired about all of theses "double switches", wait till he invents that "Triple Switches."

Womack could have scored on the Barrett double if he didn't get picked off attempting to steal. Speed may not slump, but it sure can kill an inning.

Last night they worked the count really well. Ponson had 97 pitches in six innings.

Last night, they saw 3.72 P/PA, which is right near league average. Over the previous 6 games, they had been seeing 3.26 P/PA. Huge difference !!

That is probably skewed by Womack's 9 pitch at bat, no?

In a 14 inning game, I doubt it.

Good point. I ment seeing 97 pitches of Ponson though.

I was at the game last nigt...well the first 11.5 innings anyway...considering who we had up, who we had left to pitch, who they had up...and the fact that we were paying a sitter $12 an hour my wife decided it was time for us to go...I am ashamed to say I agreed with her...it was a nice win...Rolen makes that play in the 9th 995 times out of 1000....but it mean nothing unless we win the next two games...Rusch seems to do alright against the Cards, so may maybe there is hope.

How about this question:

Is this the game that turns St. Louis' season around?

I'm certainly tired of them. Especially when they involve taking out a selective few players who've actually performed of late for the likes of Freddie Bynum and John Mabry. Talk about idiotic.

And you consider yourself a true fan?

I was sitting at home and I was about to call it quits. Not to mention I wasn't paying a sitter $12 an hour.
