Milledge is taking the place of Xavier Nady who went on the DL after an emergency appendectomy.

Milledge is 21, he can hit, he can run, he can walk, he can get drafted after Ryan Harvey and make the Cubs look like fools and he has awesome, awesome dreadlocks.

Between Milledge, Wright and Pedro, I might actually start liking the Mets.

is harvey close to being called up as well?

Yep. The Cubs are just waiting for him to get his avg. about the mendoza line before they give him the big jump from Daytona to the Majors.

What's not to like about a .170/.233/.296 line?

The Cubs are so good at drafting position players. :x

No, but Conor Jackson and Nick Markakis seem to be doing ok. Man, I wouldn't mind having either of those guys right now. ARI had a nice haul in the first round that year. They took Quentin late in the 1st right after Jackson.

that was quite a draft...milledge, cordero, markakis, weeks, maholm, hill, wagner, anderson, jackson, aardsma, murton. didn't take that bunch long to get to the bigs.

plus, there was delmon, barton, quentin, billingsley, wood...

Nady had an appendectomy and is going to be out 3 weeks. I'm excited to see this guy play - this is what mlb.tv is for.

It sure does suck to be Victor Diaz, though. A .608 OPS in AAA hurts, especially when anything better would have led to a starting job in the majors for a little while.

Victor will be traded at some point in this season. His problem has always been he doesn't have a position. His defense is not good enough for second and he doesn't have a strong arm. But he can hit, make no mistake about that.

Remember how many people thought Harvey was the fourth best prospect in that draft behind Delmon Young, Ricky Weeks, and Adam Loewen?

Gah! The Mets have a huge stockpile of talent. If they get someone like Clemens, they would be very scary.

Almost scary enough to challenge the Braves for a division title.

If you mean their major league team, it's pretty nice. But their farm system is absolutely putrid beyond Milledge and Pelfrey (with a nod to Humber, who was struck with the dreaded Tommy John Disease) thanks to the fact that they traded the farm to the Marlins.

By the way, check Transactions. That Clemens part is no longer a possibility.

Not that it matters with the Cubs current situation, but Cliff Floyd is gone if Milledge does anything. No reason to send him back down if he hits.

He'd fit right in. It's all about productive outs, and with that many outs some of 'em are bound to be productive.

How many people think Milledge would look pretty good in a Cubs' uniform?

Think we could get him and Floyd for Maddux, Marshall and Murton?

Mets desperately need more starting pitching if they want to ride out the season. Murton would actually give them more production then they've gotten from Big Cliff. Marshall would be necesary to try and pry a player of Milledge's talent.

Maddog gets to pitch with Glavine and they get one last run together for a second ring.

For the Cubs, they get a new young position player to ruin, I mean, build a team around and Floyd comes off the books soon enough anyways.

Oh yeah, it also means they won't contend this year.
