Stop glorifying Kenny Williams. Guy is a total unprofessional. Called Frank Thomas an effing idiot. He's only the best player in club history.

he can't handle personal situations well at all, but I'd take him over Hendry in a heartbeat. He knows how to setup a good team, something Hendry has failed to do.

Agreed. Want someone who follows protocol and loses, or someone who breaks protocol and wins?

If I have to make the choice? The latter, definitely.

Not really. He basically caught lightning in a bottle recently. Moneyball paints him as a bumbling idiot, but I guess everyone is compared to Billy Beane.

Just turned on the radio and heard them saying the interview was done in a professional manner, etc...

Were there some fireworks or was it pretty spineless?

To bat a magical .254(I think this is what MacPhail called the league average) with runners in scoring position the Cubs would need to get 90 hits in there 355 abs in this situation. Right now the Cubs have 80. 10 more poopin hits and we are good according to MacPhail. Heck the Mets are only hitting .245 with runners in scoring position. Somehow they have managed to score 25 more runs in this situation. I dont think it has anything to do with the 61 more abs with runners in scoring position.

So our team president somehow thinks that doing better in situational hitting will help the team AND IT WILL BY 10 TO 13 RUNS. WOW THAT IS TWO LESS RUN THAN THE MARLINS JUST BEAT US BY.

To lead the NL in hitting with runners in scoring position we would need a grand total of 25 more hits. I do contend that this would improve our team however if we added 35 runs to our grand total which is what this would net us we would be 14th in the NL instead of 16th. So if we lead the NL in hitting with runners in scoring position we would still be really really bad offensively.

I wish just someone would throw this stuff up in anyones face who quotes we are last in the league in hitting with runners in scoring position

Well Andy can't quite put his finger on why the Cubs stink but he has some really good theories.

Cliff notes:

blah blah blah, BA with RISP, blah blah, need to go back to April, blah blah, Hendry not thinking about Baker, blah blah, 2005 Stros, blah blah talk to Dusty about Wrigley's grass length, blah blah.

so it's all murton's fault then?

No worries, Womack is on the way.

Cubs do need more speed.

Yes, it takes us entirely too long to get back to the dugout after swinging at Ball 4 over & over.

And more second basemen! Here, I redesigned the baseball diamond so it only consists of a pitcher's mound and second bases.

It looks like they're crapping on the field. I think that's a good strategy, personally.

MacPhail has confirmed our worst fear. We root for a team that is absolutely terrible. Worse than that, the people in charge of the team have no idea why the team is terrible. Worst of all, the entire minor league system is stocked with players reflecting the same broken philosophy that has got the team where it is in the first place. It's seriously time to look for something else to do in the summer, unless you enjoy watching what soon could turn into a hybrid of the Royals and the Pirates.
