"Blah, blah, blah, bad luck, blah, blah, injuries, blah, blah, Dusty Baker extension, blah."

i didn't think the interview was until later. how'd you get the transcripts early?

That's a no win situation... unless he's discussing his departure. Other then that is all spin for Hendry and Dusty.

Just like the Firehouse discussion isn't?

Well he could be discussing Dumbsty's departure.

I think this is a good thing. There are several possabilities...

1. Dusty is being fired... WAY Awesome. (I skipped Hendry being fired, although that woudl be even better... just not going to happen).

2. MacPhail starting to dole out some blame and say changes might be necessary soon. Or, of course, the dreaded vote of confidence. This is OK, as it might actually mean something... but if they're just saying stuff and don't mean it... that leads us too...

3. Macphail puts blame on the typical excuses... injuries, bad luck, etc. This is both good and bad... good because then MACPHAIL is going to look like an idiot, and maybe he gets canned eventually too... bad because it means things will get much worse before they get better...

Of course, it could be a very very bad thing...

4. Dusty Extended... "We need a stable presense to get us through this bad luck... etc."

If it were a firing or an extension, we would have heard of a press conference by now.

Like Dick Cheney on Fox News.

thank you for providing me with a genuine laugh through this barren wasteland that is cub fandom. :D

I can't imagine that he is any longer. Also, is it me or does Kaplan always sound really annoyed when the Cubs lose? He sounds bitter and jaded after a loss. It's cool.

Is Kaplan still a huge Dusty supporter?

Not sure, but one of my friends that listens to the show said that he has snapped lately and has called for some changes.

Should be interesting...with no game on tonight, I'll definitely be listening.

Yeech, I don't know.

You can submit questions/comments to Kaplan through the WGN Radio website.

Kaplan's responded via email to me in the past when I've commented. I'm guessing the email volume might be running too high for personal responses right now.

Maybe Andy will take a page out of the current administration, deciding to pull a Karen Hughes and resign to be with his family.

I hope enough people submit OBP/Players who can catch and run questions.

Mr MacPhail, your team seems to have the momentum of a run-away freight train. Why are they so popular?

"Well, if by 'run away freight train' you mean that we are headed in the right direction at break-neck pace, I agree. Just that some bad luck has intervened."

Wow. If Kaplan has called for some changes with Hendry and Dusty in charge, you know something's wrong.

I haven't listened to them in about two years, but maybe I'll tune in tonight.

MacPhail never says anything in public. Something's up...and I think we will NOT hear the company line hear. And if I'm right, I want to be hailed a hero on NSBB! I don't know that anyone will get fired...however, that said, he wouldn't be coming on if he didn't have something to say. Think positive!!!! (if there is anything positive about this)

hes more moderate now, he has been saying people like peirre, hairston, jones should be benched when they do stupid things

nothing big is going to come from this for all those who guessed and were hoping, its pre-recorded so if something big was going to go down, it wouldve been leaked already.

I'm a little skeptical over that scenario. I'm sure he is just going to say that the Cubs problems are nobody's fault, that Dusty is a good manager, that Jim Hendry made the right moves in the offseason, that the Cubs are a victim of bad luck, etc.

or

Maybe he wanted to call out Kap and Waddle onto the carpet in front of their audience instead of covering it up this time?
