About Tuesday (?) night's game:

Felix Pie, who Baseball America calls the Chicago Cubs' top prospect, was helped off the field following an awkward slide into second base in the third inning. Pie remained in the game and finished the day 5-for-6 with two runs scored. Iowa's Mike Fontenot went 4-for-5 at the place.

I don't like hearing "Pie" and "awkward slide" in the same sentence, but he obviously did pretty well after that and did play last night.

How was Pie helped off the field and allowed to remain in the game? I'm assuming that he was out on the slide or that the inning was over during the slide? It still doesn't seem like it'd be smart for a manager to have a player helped off the field then allow the player to go back out there, no matter how badly that player still wanted to play.

According to the game log, he was forced at second in the third inning. It does seem a little suspect, but it's hard to tell.

Especially given his injury last year. :?

Tonight is Gallagher's 10th start.

I'm not sure what day it was, but I do know for a fact that it was a day game when the incident took place. So if Tuesday was a night game, it couldn't have been then.

Gallagher with 6Ks through 3. The HR was his 4th allowed this season, the first non-solo shot.

The broadcasters have mentioned in the past that his ERA in 2nd innings is over 5.

Gallagher loads the bases with one out in the 4th with a HBP and 2BBs, but gets the DP to escape. I think the first out was another K.

Sounds like he's getting a lot of movement on his pitches -- racking up the Ks, but also a little wild.

Daytona scores a run in the top of 5th to take the lead 4-3.

I think its time to put Mitch Atkins officially on the prospect radar. The guy has been dominant so far this season. He just pitched 7 scoreless, only allowing 3 hits while inducing 15 ground ball outs to just one fly ball out. He is only 20 years old and won't turn 21 until after the season is long over. He has good size at 6'3", 230 lbs. That is NFL linebacker size right there. What I don't know is, what's his stuff like?

He's got an ERA of 2.01, a WHIP of 1.03, and he is striking out a batter per inning with a ratio to walks of 3:1. Not that it matters much, but in 9 starts, he is also undefeated at 3-0.

When you put Atkins in with Donnie Veal (21), Scott Taylor (19), Mark Reed (just turned 20) and Jonathan Mota (about to turn 19), that is a good young nucleus of talent that happens to be performing quite well at the moment.

I assumed it was a night game, but it was Tuesday.

Pie walked on 4 pitches to leadoff the first (Coats followed with a full count walk, which is nice to see) and scored on an RBI single by Restovich. Hill with a HBP, SB, and single allowed in the first, but got out of it thanks to a FC out at the plate.

For what it's worth, Dunedin is the best slugging team in the FSL.

Bums. Don't they realize you can't rely on the long ball? Speed and defense win games, dude.

Also, for what it's worth, Daytona is the second best slugging team in the FSL. Individually, Jake Fox and Matt Craig are numbers 2 & 3 (as of yesterday - it will probably be reversed after tonight).

Edit: Daytona is also #2 in OBP and OPS.

Craig (.423) and Fuld (.414) were 2 & 4 in OBP; Fox (.389) was 9th heading into today.

Harvey went 0-4 with 3Ks and a HBP. His average is down to .174.
