All need some pitching help. I'd like to get Dustin Pedroia here, and for the Yankees, Colter Bean and Eric Duncan might be interesting. Give me a second prospect to go with Pedroia, and I'll send Boston Bobby Howry come June 16th. The Yankees, if Slappy could just do SOMETHING, I think I could get them to take Pierre off our hands. I'd give them Will Ohman too, if they'll just take him.

Here's another interesting idea. Mets are getting antsy, they want some pitching. Sean Marshall for Lastings Milledge, straight-up. Would be an excellent trade for both teams, addressing areas of weakness. I like Marshall a lot, but we need offense desperately for next year and beyond. Milledge and Pie in the OF could be something special.

Trading Marshall for Milledge means the Cubs have one reliable arm for next year.

Lack of pitching is just as big of problem as lack of hitting. Actually, pitching is probably needed more, since Lee will give the offense a huge boost and has been reliable throughout his career. Counting on Prior or Wood is just misguided.

Why would any of the three contenders in the three biggest markets and media outlets in baseball trade for a rookie pitcher with 8 mlb starts under his belt. They are looking at pitches like Willis or Zito, not Sean.

Absolutely not on Howry and Marshall. They are both solid pitchers and two of the few bright spots on the team this year.

Pierre is one thing since he'll be gone after this year if we don't want him back so if we can get something for him then why not.

Why shoot for the moon? A Rusch deal (pun intended) to the Mets signals nothing of "giving up" and it would be a classic example of taking advatnge of a team when they need something ala the Dodgers when Lasorda had to get Perez from Montreal.

Rusch for a mid level prospect for AA would be acceptable.

I'd love to get Miledge, but I might go in a differing direction to get him.

Marshall for Milledge is an interesting proposition, and the Mets just might bite.

However, assuming they might want some "veteran" help rather than trust a rookie, I offer them Maddux instead and then sweeten the deal by allowing them a pick of a prospect like Hill or Harvey.

Gammons reported last night that his conversation with Minaya revealed that he has been going after "bad contracts" pitchers from other teams because he isn't giving away Milledge. At All. Minaya wants his team to turn into the mid-90s Yankees, and with the core of the position players under 30 still and all making noise, he's right to go after that goal.

But, he also commented that trade talks haven't gone far because teams this year really don't have much in the way of bad contracts because nearly every team is making money and the desire to dump isn't as strong.

Glendon Rusch - 2 yrs - $6 million - $1 million extra in performance bonuses (HA!)

Since Willis and Zito's names are being linked with the Mets for Milledge, I highly doubt a rookie pitcher will bring back Milledge. The Mets need a reliable top 3 horse to win the WS this season since they want to win right now. If I'm the Mets I don't talk about Milledge to the Cubs unless they are willing to part with Zambrano. I wouldn't want to deal Z, but he is going to get very expensive very soon. If I could get Milledge and Pelfrey I think that would be something for the Cubs to look at. The Cubs would probably have to expand the deal to also get Pelfrey, but I'd really like to get both of those guys from the Mets.

Anyone wonder exactly how much the Mets miss Kazmir right about now? That kid is undeniable.

Guys are cursing that trade on a daily basis.

And its not like it was like the Willis trade where only insider fans really knew the value of what the Cubs were giving up. It was clearly a terrible terrible trade right from the start.

Chacon just went on the DL for the Yanks. Their rotation :

Johnson, Mussina, Small, Wang, Wright. OWCH.

Wright and Johnson are injuries waiting to happen, and Small is terrible. I think we could get the Yanks to take Rusch/Williams off of our hands. What could we get?

If we traded them Maddux (I know it wont happen) we could really get a killing.

The Mets are saying Milledge is off limits.

Milledge straight up for anybody isn't going to get them to make a deal.

and for the Yankees, Colter Bean

the 29-year-old DFA'd today?

lol

Man, at the rate things are going for this post, Lastings Milledge is going to blow out his knee in the next week or two.
