Anyone want to impersonate a six year old with poor penmanship for the purposes of writing a letter begging Cuban to buy the Cubs?

It might not work, but hey, sappiness is always worth a shot.

I hope the Mavs win so he gives the Cubs an offer they cant refuse

I just hope the Mavs win so at least one team I route for will win a championship.

While I know it would never happen, how funny would it be to turn on a Cubs game to see NOBODY in the stands?

That would be a better protest. "Stay at home" day. You'd have to get a lot of publicity about it, and obviously not everyone would do it, but the visual of near empty, or even half empty stands would be pretty impressive.

I won't take credit for this suggestion, but someone had mentioned a walk out in the 6th or 7th inning, that way all the "fans" from out of state, Rockford, etc. could still attend part of the game.

This is probably a more realistic scenario then expecting no one to show up.

It would be great to see everyone walk out at the same time.

Since everyone in the stadium would have already purchased their game tickets (and probably enough food and beer for a small army,) I really don't see what this would accomplish. I think we just need to face the fact that the Cubs organization has all of us by the short hairs, and we would do well to come to grips with the fact that none of us will see a championship in our lifetime.

Symbolic. Plus they lose consession money for that day and get bad publicity in the media.

Has anyone heard about this?

Does anyone have any information?

This could be a great time to pass out hundreds of paper bags..................

:(

One of the organizers has sent emails out to various Cubs blogs with more information. Here's a link to one of the emails with more information.

Have everyone wear Guy Fawkes masks.

Instead of blowing up parliament, can we blow up home plate?

Why not? We're not using it

"It was the biggest crowd at Wrigley since 41,677 came to a doubleheader against the Dodgers on July 16, 1978. "

Guess the protest didn't have much impact on attendance.

Unfortunately, many people who wanted to go to a weekend game this summer had to buy their tickets back in February.

I'm wondering too...

I just joined this forum and read the posts here (is there another thread I should read first?) ...I am not real sure why cub fans would protest their own team.

Cubs fan here...and I would love tickets to a game. Unfortunately I am right in the middle of busy season and can't attend. A few years ago I bought season tickets with a friend and enjoyed every game I went to whether the Cubs won or lost. It's about watching a game...not about who wins. What iffen the Trib said to heck with everything and fired everyone on the team. I would be one unhappy cubs fan. I love the cubs....no matter how well or how poorly they are doing. They have my support.

Welcome to the forums!

Cubs fans here want to see the Cubs win. Some think that a protest (or boycott or whatever) might bring the point home to upper management and the Tribune Company that changes need to be made.

There's no one unified viewpoint on the subject.

I'd say that would be a pretty good start.

As far as the protest, I went today and saw about 5 guys ripping on the Tribune company at the gate facing the Cubby Bear. We came out of there and walked right past them. People kind of chuckled as they went by, but that's all.

Guess I'm a scab.

According to the organizer, 15 people showed up at its peak...

Hopefully he wasn't bragging about how ineffective he was with his protest, with the publicity he generated beforehand.

biggest crowd since 1978 vs 15 protesters, kind of pathetic I'd say.

Long live scabs!

What would you do should we lose an entire team...would you go with the cards then? Or the white sox? I wonder. Nah...I will stick with the cubbies as being my fav team in the whole wide world. Iffen you all feel management isn't doing a good job and feel like you can run it better ... why are you not employed by the Tribune to make it better?

Bottom line....the cubbies are doing the best that they can.

Think about this....given the lack of support from fans....is it no wonder that 3 are on the DL....three of our top players. How good would you feel going into work knowing that support wasn't behind you?

I got an email from the guy:

well, unfortunately, i feel defeated. only because i didn't get the turnout i was hoping for. maybe 15 people. we were all on the score for 2 weeks, many blogs, but not a big turnout for support. we were interviewed by cbs and fox news so that was cool. the only thing i can hope we accomplished with this, is for it to be noticed by others and maybe start to grow somehow. oh well, i gave it shot. i feel exhausted, but trust me, we were heard! so much so, that the cubs had their merry old band come out near us and play music to try to drown us out. it didn't work though, we had a LOUD megaphone. gotta run, i'm out. thanks for the support. i'll send pics to you guys over at 1060.

Lack of support? The Cubs have had great attendance figures for years.

The fans are responsible for Lee, Prior and Wood being injured? You can't be serious.

The ownership of the franchise has been the starting point of the problem for decades.

The organization at every level is NOT doing it's best.
