I was working on my resume all night and forgot about the Cubs. Saw they were actually winning on Cubs.com. They better not implode like they did Saturday.

Dusty tried his best in the 8th inning.

Are you kidding me??? Z has thrown 105 pitches, and we didn't even have anyone warming up? I've tried to give Dusty the benefit of the doubt for quite some time, but this guy is proving to be a moron...

One thing I've noticed about Baker. He'll never preemptively have the bullpen warming up in these situations. He always waits until the first sign of trouble and usually doesn't pull the pitcher until it's too late. Baker is reactive rather than proactive.

perhaps it's a show of confidence in z??? the guy's quite proven. no need to be pessimistic.

You know Z is at 100 pitches. You know you have one of the best bullpens in the league. It is inexcusable to not have somebody warming up just in case. It's not pessimism. It's called being prepared.

it's called ticking an all star pitcher off.

I got antsy and didn't like keeping up with gameday, so I went for a 2.5 mile jog.

Much to my surprise, we're still winning!!!!

Has it been a rough 120 pitches for Z? You guys think he'll get a shot at the shutout?

Z is totally out of gas. No way he comes back out for the 9th

If Zambrano gets ticked off because relievers are warming up in the pen "just in case" than he has issues.

Z should be mature enough to not get ticked off there. All-Star pitchers don't get ticked off if their manager has somebody warming up just in case.

The first 100 were pretty smooth. The last 20 or so sucked. But, hey, why use your best bullpen guys now? Its not like the Cubs have lost 14 out of 16. Dusty has control of every aspect of this team.

While Jacque looked good against that LHP, Cedeno just looked confused.

He's really gotta fix that.

Z looked terrible, and he was clearly tired. The Cubs, and Zambrano, got very lucky there. And who cares about showing confidence in him? The Cubs need to win, not make Zambrano feel better by having no one up in the 'pen.

That's plain old bad managing. Not replacing Z was a mistake, and it was then compounded by leaving him in there for 20 pitches.
