Sure got quiet in Jacque Jones world all of the sudden.

Now hitting close to 275 and has the 2nd highest OPS of his entire career going at 806. That is good enough for 7th in OPS for RF in the NL with those qualified.

Yet there are crickets chirping here. So where you be?

Let me hear ya.

Hey, that's great...I'm all happy he's hitting right now, but a 3 year deal was still stupid as hell for Hendry to make, and I think that's where the "haters" have a problem. He's overpaid, and he's here too long.

but he doesn't take enough walks! ;)

the cubs bench & cf position are insufficient. everywhere else is fine. can't complain about the other positions unless you want to remove one of the kids or walker. The big problem is that too many of these guys are walk or singles guys. Need more power, and ARam needs to start playin ball.

ok he can hit righties which is good. I think it was Fred in the gamethread that mentioned having Hairston in RF when facing lefties...I could go for that.

the guy was supposed to be a great guy on defense with a great arm. I have not seen any of that up to today. His "great arm" helped contribute to a Padres run in the 8th today. I'd like to see his defense show up because everyone knew he would probably only be a .250-.265 hitter throughout the year. His defense was something I thought we could rely on from him, but so far that has not been the case.

Platoon anyone? BTW, I think that this might be the 15938th time this has been suggested since the season started.

I think it's quiet about Jacque because they suck. Nobody cares what Jacque is doing.

if jones was putting up walker's #'s the past 11 days, jones would be enemy #2 behind baker.

I don't even know what Walker is doing, or Jones. I couldn't care less. They are losing everyday and I can't watch this mess anymore.

you really don't get it do you? Jones was a bad signing. What he does this week or next week, or last week makes no difference. He is not a good player. He does not provide what the Cubs need to win. We are stuck watching him for another two years after this one. I don't care if he hits four homers tomorrow - I don't want him on the Cubs. And as far I can tell the only hater is the guy who started this thread hating on other fans.

I live in fear of Murton platooning with Jones while Mabry starts all games in LF.

Mabry's three year splits against lefties aren't too bad (.275/.337/.407/744), but it's hard to tell in terms of the sample size since he's seen roughly five times as many ABs against RHPs (499) as he has against LHPs (91).

But the fact that Hendry shelled out the contract he did for Jock is what's the worst part about it.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion.

But i am not hating. I just said in the earlier 20+ pg hatefest that Jones needs a fair shake and pointed to the Boston-Renteria disaster last season.

Sometimes it just takes a player 1 month to adjust to the league. One of those crazy things.

But we do need to get more positive posting going in here. Need to find some diamonds in this rough.

whatever, you started this thread to try and embarass other posters. Jones is doing about what was expected of him and its not sufficient. He needs to be platooned.

Sunny,

Earlier you were tooting Pierre's horn. Do you have his numbers up to date?

i do, and i am waiting.

have said all along that Pierre is his own worst enemy and DLee got in his head and freaked him out. He will be joining us soon though.

even if he completely adjusts and puts up his career average #'s for the next three years, i still wouldn't want him.

also, what's the point of starting a thread to 'show' people they were wrong? do you want people to do it to you next week when jones sucks again?

So your thoughts about letting Ramirez, a superior hitter (and possibly better defensively so far), leave after his April were justified and shouldn't be called out later on?

If Jones keeps up those splits against righties, I think we'll need to call Ripley's.

Can you do me a favor and hold off posting Jones's numbers until you're ready to post Pierre's as well?

no, just fair and balanced reporting.

all of this negativity is bringing me down and bumming me out. Those who know and remember me from posting know i can be pretty negative, but it is getting way out of hand on this site.

I mean we had a freaking poll started yesterday on Dempster's role as closer after he blows a Save for the first time in recent memory.

If someone is doing their expected job (regardless if you are happy with them being there) or doing a good job, we need to post that and give them an atta boy every once in a while. Otherwise we end up looking like a strung-out bunch of lunatics.
