The Cubs leave the bases loaded, Sky Sox up 1-0 after 4. Does anyone else feel bad for Adam Greenberg? He may never again get a shot in the big leagues and his one career at bat could end up being the pitch that hit him in the head.

5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K on 85 pitches, 54 for strikes, 7-5 GO-FO

Not all that impressive, but without much control, he at least minimized the damage. Didn't really give up many hard hit balls and most of the fly balls weren't hit too deep.

So bring him up for a start on the 17th?

I'm pretty sure that was already decided on even before his start tonite. Especially with the way Guzman and this team has looked...

He'll be ready to throw enough pitches, so yes.

Might be different if Guzman and Hill were owning, but they're not.

well, he certainly wasn't dominating. he was 90-91 on iowa's gun, which has never been very accurate...so i didn't think much of it. but then the sky sox guy was around 89-90, so maybe the gun was accurate, and wood was just kinda slow. plus, his last pitch of the 5th inning was 93 on the scoreboard gun, and i was standing behind the guys w/ the guns in the stands, and the gun i looked at said 93 too. kinda worries me a little bit.

as i'm sure everyone who watched it saw, he didn't command his breaking stuff very well, and he missed up quite a bit with his fb. it was also very cold, and the wind was blowing in. shealy's fly ball to right may have been a hr on another night.

Yeah, his velocity is something to watch. It picked up after a few innings in Peoria, I believe, but he wasn't in the 95 range consistently.

AP[/url]"]On a night when the wind chill hovered in the mid 40s, Wood's velocity was slower than normal. He topped out once at 93 mph, but most of his fastballs crossed the plate between 88-90.

Wood downplayed any concerns about his velocity, blaming the lack of zip on his stuff, not his shoulder.

"It was just one of those days when I didn't have my best stuff, but I made pitches when I needed to," Wood said. "I threw all my pitches, and all of them for strikes. I'll take it."

Here are some pics from the game:

Wood's heater in low 90's range? We're in trouble.

He topped out at 97 in Peoria, but most of his fastballs were in the low 90s. We'll see if that was from just not pushing it.

It could be that Wood was having command problems, so I'm guessing maybe that he's taking the conserative approach, and try to find his grove.

Just my guess.
