But you need manager that understands this city and the Cubs history.

Why? Just because Ozzie played for the Sox doesn't mean that's the answer. Francona didn't bleed Red. McKeon might be an old dude but he didn't win because of his knowledge of South Florida history. Same with Brenly in Arizona.

Saying the Cubs need a manager that understands Chicago and the history is absolutely ludicrous.

Okay let's get another laid back California dude....Why is that Ludicrous? Wouldn't you want a manager that has pride for his town and team? Didn't Dikta have that? Doesn't Ozzie have that? Heck this team has tried everything else!

Can we get Ditka to manage the team?

The ESPN 1000 radio team had him on the Monday morning show and asked him lots of questions about whether Dusty is a good manager.

Why would they ask a football coach about baseball is beyond me, but what did he say?

That Dusty knows Chicago and will therefore turn this team around.

And who would you suggest be the manager?

I would've said Giardi but he's taken.

I know the history -- we've sucked more or less for a century. Where do I sign?

Send me a finder's fee and I'll see who i can talk to.

Finder's fee? You're my bench coach.

Can I bee the pitching coach? I can wear out arms like the best of them. Or the hitting coach? I'm sure I can figure out a way for the Cubs to swing and miss much more gracefully.

Except building a team with a combination of good OBP and power, and have a manager that knew how to use his players to get maximum performance.

But yeah, other than that, we've tried everything.

You could make every player add a hop and a skip to his swing. That would be aesthetically pleasing.

Sure thing, no interviews or applications accepted. First come, first served.

Fixed. cubbiechris said that, not me.

How about Bozo T. Clown, Jon Cusack, Billy Coragan, Bill Murry, Denis Farina, Denis Franz, or Gary Sinece? They all know Chicago and have name recognition.

They'd have to be good.

Agreed! Let's put it this way no matter who is the manager unless you get a GM that understands how to build a team it won't matter...

I could be the left-handed BP pitcher.

My bad...quoted your response and removed it poorly...sorry.

(And then I accidentally edited your post instead of quoting it...fixed now. Is it time for me to go home yet?)

We won't need one of those. That would actually help the team. You know we can't be having that.
