When the Cubs return to Chicago, what will be the fan attitude towards the team? Endearment? Indifference? Disgust? How will it be voiced? Will a large booing display get some sort of message going anywhere within the organization? Could we see a similar display to the Matt Millen antics in Detroit where the fans were actively booing the Lions and cheering the Bungles in an attempt to send a message to ownership?

I think the fan interaction when they come back Friday will be interesting.

"How do you feel about your team's execution?"

"I'm all for it."

Sorry, I can't remember the manager who said that right now.

I'd much prefer if the fans all just turn and give Hendry the stink-eye if he's at the game.

Or they track down MacPhail and boo him. The guys on the team can frustrate the hell out of me, but at this point, it's the people above them that deserve things like booing.

IMHO, us fans need to have some sort of everyday protest. A little thing to show our displeasure. Say like wearing cubs clothing inside out, something.

I know it would be something more symbolic than anything, but it may be a ggood catharsis.

All I know is the Cubs have saved me a lot of money this summer. I'm only on the hook for one more game and I'm glad about it.

I'm on the hook for 2. Hopefully I get Woody.

Edit: CRAP. If he comes back on the 16th of May, I get him for my first game. If he comes back on the 17th, I don't. CRAP.

A massive silent protest surrounding Tribune Tower.

The image of thousands of people decked out in Cubs gear, silently glaring at the suits as they have to come and go seems awesome.

Totally unrealistic, but awesome.

That would be John McKay, head coach of the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I believe the starting QB that year was none other than Mr. Spurrier.

The fans are tired of losing. I would think if Jim Hendry has any pride, he'd be tired of it as well.

Nothing will happen. The Cubs will sell out, a small portion of the crowd will voice their displeasure, but the other 34,000 will be on their 7th beer by the time the Cubs go down 1-0

second batter, top of the 1st?

Thems some fast drinkers.

well only reason they get drunk before the cubs go down 1-0 on the day they are there is because they started drinking on April 29th...

it's a real sad thing when the most excited i've been in the last week and a half or so is when juan pierre robbed barry's juicing lovin self

You can't boo the Cubs. That would be rude and hurt their feelings. They all deserve our love and respect since they're paying us to be there.

If fans boo this weekend, then the Cubs won't sign any free agents next off season.

Finally, a poster who understands the free agent market.

MPC is right. I heard Clemens was considering coming to the Cubs in June for $1 million, but once he heard how the fans were treating Jacque Jones, he changed his mind.

Unless our fans are more friendly (I suggest bleacher fans wear nametags and address the players as "mister" and "sir"), we'll have no shot at signing an impact free agent next year.

It won't be because the fans are booing. It will because Hendry lowballed another FA and watched him go to another team.
