i can hear the end of the year excuses already...'oh, derrek lee was hurt. he was the difference between having the worst offense in the league and a great offense.'

I think Ronny Cedeno had the last Cubs HR.

Should I laugh or cry over that? Cuz I'm doing a little of both right now.

Crying more now helps you laugh more later.

I have watched some really bad Cubs teams in my time, but I am struggling to recall another stretch of offensive futility like the one we have seen in the past week.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

I wonder what the Cubs record is for consecutive innings without scoring a run.

Was it mentioned tonight?

i was there the last time the cubs won a game

Tell us what it was like, Grandpa.

we had a very hard time scoring runs, we had lost out best offensive threat to a freak accident a week or so before. Juan Pierre came in to score in the first inning. then jock jones got doubled off 2nd with the bases loaded killing a great rally, the pirates then scored on a infield single by joe randa. then the 8th inning came and matt murton hit the ball just out of the reach of jack wilson, jerry hairston came around to score. Ryan dempster came in to close down the pirates. it was great

LIAR. You are accusing the Cubs of ACTUALLY scoring a couple of runs, not to mention accusing them of winning a game? You better have some serious hard evidence to back up the claim. 8)

It's almost getting funny for me.

How many different ways can we kill rallys and prevent runs from being scored, even with runners on or the bases loaded. It's exciting to see how creative the Cubs players can get.

This season = joke. And not even a funny one. I mean, we've heard all this before.

-- Kerry Prior injured (check)

-- Young pitchers struggling to replace them (check)

-- Big Bat out of lineup for extended period of time (check)

-- Really, REALLY awful bench players (check)

When our pitchers throw well, we can't score runs. Check.

Agreed, and things won't change until this organization gets cleared out from top to bottom.

Well if the Cubs actually score a run again they should stop the game and have a little ceremony out by homeplate. :?

If the next time they score a run is at home, I want to hear that song from "The Natural" no matter what the score of the game is at the time.

I kinda felt like with Derrek Lee, we had a fairly average offense...of course he's out and everyone is in a mega-slump.
