I'm glad to see they did something about the Rusch problem,

Did they actually do something? I haven't heard anything official.

Taking him out of the rotation is doing something.

But did they actually do that, or are people just speculating. Rusch is still listed as the expected starter.

Good ?. According to the radio Rusch is in the pen when I heard it this morning, but according to the Trib at this point Baker hasn't said one way or another. I believe it will happen though.

the only thing that would make me more mad than hill not getting called up at all would be hill getting called up to take aardsma's spot in the pen, leaving rusch in the rotation.

Levine and the Sun Times are reporting that Hill has been called up and that Rusch is going to the pen. In addition, Aardsma was seen shaking hands with his (former) teammates.

I would believe that this would also mean that Rusch is available tonight out of the pen if needed.

Are we the only team in MLB that has 3 lefty relievers? Why not deal Rusch to the Marlins, pick up his salary and get back Nolasco

You mean, other than the facts the Marlins would never consider the deal?

I'll bet Rusch has some trade value left. It's not like Hendry was "negotiating against himself." Hopefully, Rusch can look decent in the mop-up role and they can deal him during the summer.

He wasn't negotiating against himself? I thought he signed Glendon before Glendon talked to any other teams.

Glendon was re-signed before he filed for FA.

Which means we don't have to wait until June 15th to trade him! Hooray!

I'll bet you that he doesn't have any trade value.

I'm not sure you could get anything for Rusch in a trade, but if you place him on waivers there's a good chance someone picks him up. At least in that case, the Cubs rid themselves of that contract.

I'm not sure Rusch adds anything to the bullpen that Williams, Ryu, Wuertz, or any number of other arms could bring. He should be released.

You really think there's a good chance?

i don't think anybody other than hendry would have given him 2/$5 before this season. and given the disaster that has been his month of april, i double-doubt someone would give him that $ now.

The Cubs want to get rid of Rusch, and I need a batting practice pitcher for my nephew's little league team. So...I'm offering the backup first base bag, and a pair of s40 yr old cleats for Glendon Rusch? My teams really needs the hitting practice. Is it a deal?

If you'll pay Rusch's salary, deal. :D

so he negotiated against himself for lee too? there was a market for rusch, he just didn't let him test it.
