I really wish you'd bring better news Bruce. Like Jones sitting this game against a really tough lefty.

Try better next time? :P

It's OK to kill the messenger!

Aww Bruce..... we haven't killed anybody all day !!! Sheesh

I'm sure Bruce knows we jest. In reality, Bruce is an invaluable member of our Game Thread community. Straight from the press box, he doesn't mince words and cuts through red tape!

I assume by reading many of your posts you are talking about yourself

3-3.

The simple fact remains that you should not fault a manager for starting a guy against a pitcher that the guy has gone 3-3 against in the past.

It's a PERFECTLY REASONABLE decision given the scenario.

Anyone who picks at it is doing so as part of some sort of agenda.

Ignorance of baseball + poor logic + sweeping accusations = one really bad post.

And it's managed to get personal before the game even started.

Stop it.

Comedy on NSBB. Neifi gets brought up and a huge argument ensues. It's like clockwork.

My, my, tension is very high today in the game thread.

And like Jon said, the game hasn't even started yet. I can only imagine what it will be like if we fall be...I'm not even going to say it because we are going to win today. We couldn't hit Vargas last night so we'll hit Dontrelle well tonight.

As for the lineups. People should be happy because Neifi isn't in there. It's understandable why Jones is in the lineup after last night.

Jones looked horrible in his 2 ab's vs a mediocre lefty yesterday. He was diving out of the box on every swing. Against a real good lefty with a funky delivery it'll be even worse...

Cubs Game Notes

Chicago pitchers have certainly made life for opposing

hitters unpleasant, as the Cubs pitching staff leads the majors with a .219 batting

average against and 125 hits allowed.

The Cubs lead the National League with a .303 batting average

with runners in scoring position (44-145) … Chicago ranks second in the National

League with a .450 mark with the bases loaded (9-20).

Cubs starting pitchers have allowed 3 or fewer earned runs in

eight of the club’s last nine games … Chicago’s starters have a 3.70 ERA (21 ER/51.0

IP) over its last nine games.

© Taking away Jerome Williams’ seven earned runs in 1.1 innings to start Friday’s

game in St. Louis, Cubs starters have a 2.54 ERA (14 ER/49.2 IP) since April 15.

Clutch Hitting?

Just seeing if I can start another 8 page argument in this game thread.

I was curious about this stat today as well. This is definitly a marked improvement over last year. They have a great OBP and the #1 OPS in the NL in this stat. They are worst in RISP less than 2 outs though, that part they could do better in though. IF its not 2 outs they are $$$.

20 minutes til gametime. By the way Jones still hasn't made it out of my doghouse, he really isn't staying back and waiting for good pitches he's pressing too hard and swinging at everything. That said however after having hit 2 big time homeruns late in games to help us win recently I'm willing to cut him SOME slack for now.

Please, can someone tell me why everytime I bench a player who is struggling, they do well?

1) Last night I bench Murton he does well .750 OBP, 1 H, 2 RBI, 1 Run Scored.

2) Today I bench Zimmerman he just hit a 2 run homer.

Do I suck at life THAT much?

Hey Cheesehead. I did watch INDVD last night and it is better then the 720P that ESPN was showing. It was pretty damn cool!

Yes! 1080i is amazing when broadcast with the correct cameras and pushed into your home with the correct signal.

To date, The Masters was the most impressive form of sports broadcast in 1080i. CBS does a great job...I wish ESPN would start 1080i and if FOX would ever invest in high end cameras it would be tough to get work done due to the amount of true HD that would be available.

Good to hear bro, good to hear!

I just got my TV on Friday and I love it! I'll put this TV against any besides the Qualia. Worth every penny I spent! Discovery HD does a fanastic job also. "Sunrise Earth" is a boring program but the visual's are just outstanding! Can't take my eyes of the screen...

What TV do you own? I'm in the market for a new TV.

Sony 50" SXRD!

I just read up on it. Very nice. The 50" looks to be $4,000, right?

The only reason I could justify spending that amount is for sports watching, but if networks aren't even producing the best signal my TV can handle, is it even worth buying at this point?

What's the difference between 1080i, v, and p?

For sake of keeping this the game thread, PM me and I can give you the details. I just finished my home theater setup and can guide you through the process.

That being said... GO CUBBIES!!!
