  1. I live in Atlanta and I can tell you that Skip is aweful, and has actually gotten worse since he sobered up a few years ago, he was a notorious bad drunk for many years.
  2. Thats a good point but I still think it might be good to see that many because you get use to it.
  3. Is it possible that facing 5 lefties in 6 games could be a good thing? Because most teams struggle facing lefties because you DON'T face many of them, however seeing that many in a row could get you use to facing them.
  4. Come on guys Barrett has been in a mini funk the past 3 games and just doing something positive, i.e bunting successfully leading to a run later on can get a guy out of that funk sometimes.
  5. Well games do tend to move quickly when nobdoy is getting on base for either team basically.
  6. Several good things about Barretts bunt first is obviously we scored a run because of it. The other thing for me is that he has not had a hit in 3 games now and it was obviousl lasy night with the bases loaded he was pressing and went outside the zone when he struck out. Sometimes all a guy needs is to do something at the plate thats positive even if its not getting a hit and obvioulsy putting down a successful bunt is a good trip to the plate that might spark that bat.
  7. Comcast game I'm guessing a lot of people who are out of market aren't getting it. I have the baseball package on my dish so I can get all the Cubs games.
  8. Except for the 2 walks Marsahll is looking very good so far tonight, which is a good thing because beating Willis is never easy, which is why that win last night was even more important.
  9. 20 minutes til gametime. By the way Jones still hasn't made it out of my doghouse, he really isn't staying back and waiting for good pitches he's pressing too hard and swinging at everything. That said however after having hit 2 big time homeruns late in games to help us win recently I'm willing to cut him SOME slack for now.
  10. Woohoo hi everyone okay lets make it 3 wins in a row tonight. Wow was last nights game exciting, I of course was like most of you probably were and was mad as you know what until that awesome 8th inning.
  11. Hehe I guess JJ took note about being sold at that garage sale yesterday and decided to get a hit and a big hit today, hehe
  12. Right now our only hitter I feel like we can count on every at bat to either get on or make a positive out is Todd Walker who Dusty either sits out or double switches out of the game every day it seems
  13. Damn I thought they might let that ball drop waiting on each other to go for it.
  14. Okay we've got them right where we want them now!
  15. Okay everyone in the line-up has seen Marquis now, next time round its time to do some damage, haha trying to be positive
  16. Another wasted scoring opportunity are we back to last year?
  17. Hey I've met Jim Hendry and Andy McPahil but thats because I use to date the Cubs strength and conditioning coach.
  18. Okay so what does everyone predict the score of todays game to be, I'm going to go with Cubs 3, Cards 2, at least I'm praying we can get 3 runs today because if we do, I think we will this game.
  19. The Cubs do have rotten luck and I do not like the way Baker handles the pitchers and I had his line-ups and double switches most of the time, but as for injuries in general, all teams have had an increase in the amount of injuries over the past 10 years or so and that is mostly due to guys working out in the gym more and being more muscular. If guys are just big because their fat well its kind of hard to hurt fat but muscles on the other hand are easy to tweak.
  20. There are a couple of issues at play here. It is possible that Prior was overused a few years ago he was very young and just starting out, at the college level guys do not play as long a season and so a lot of times their arms haven't been conditioned to the strains of a long major league season yet, so it can be important I think to not over use them right away, because I think it can cause problems but that I'm sure is a player to player issue and it could be what has been wrong with Prior. It is a fact that Wood was over used at the highschool level which has led to his arm problems. As for position players I think one of the biggest current factors in todays game for injuries is guys are just big and more muscular than they use to be and when you have more muscles, you have more muscles to hurt. Conditioning should be very important and guys should be staying loose during games by riding a stantionary bike etc. to prevent their muscles from tensing up, which would cut down on hamstring injuries etc. but most of them don't do it.
  21. Okay guys 2 1/2 hours until game time and we have GOT to win todays game behind Maddux, if for no other reason than to lift the spirits and out look of the players. Yes losing Lee was huge for this team no doubt about it, but you certainly need to get a win and prove you can win wihout him, the longer a team goes without a win after a key injury the more it effects the entire teams attitude. Wiining is contagious well so is losing and you don't ever want a team to get to the point they feel defeated before they even take the field.
  22. Hehe I saw tht also but I knew what you meant.
