Did anyone hear that joke about Santo killing himself? It went something like this:

Pat: Rusch is throwing in the low 90's

Santo: I can't find the gun here

Pat: Now, Ron, it's only a 2 run deficit and the season is young, you don't have to kill yourself yet

Santo: Ohhh, I'm not going to kill myself.

But times like these, I worry.

We kill ourselves every game we take very few walks as a team and give them out like their candy.

like I said earlier, the pitches other teams take for ball 4 are called a strike when Cubs hitters are in the batter's box. no possible way that 3-2 to JRod is called a ball if a Cubs hitter is up.

We could be watching the worst lineup that the Cubs have fielded in quite some time right now. Hey Dusty, go ahead and let the pitchers hit, it's not like this lineup could ever score one run, let alone four.

Wood and Prior I think have a combined 17 wins last year, because of missed starts how can any team succeed with those numbers out of what is suppose to be their top two starters.

These things don't happen to all teams. How many starts did White Sox pitchers miss last year? How about Cardinals pitchers? How many injuries other than Jeter/Huckaby and Giambi's steroids infection have the Yanks dealt with since 2001? Other than Schill's bloody sock, what serious problems has Boston had in the last couple of years?

These things DON'T happen to all teams. 6-foot-6 man-children do not get their wrists fractured by people who are smaller than my 13-year-old brother. It just doesn't happen.

Last year Rolen was ran over by Choi and was done for the year.

The curse thing gets old.

Sure it gets old but, how many starts did Carpenter and Mulder miss last season?

Exactly the point. And how many starts did Wood and Prior miss last season? And the Cubs, once again, foolishly thought those two could be counted on.

Sorry I guess I forgot about project 3: Wade Miller

when you come up with a idea for suitable replacement pitchers and finding a taker for Kerry Wood and his salary, give Hendry a call, ok?

This can't be said enough. The Cubs are currently last in the league in number of walks taken, while being near the top (currently 4th) in walks allowed by pitchers. Over the off-season you heard a lot about lack of fundamentals, team speed, lack of clutch hitting, etc. But ultimately, the problem with this franchise, carried over from last year, is that they simply refuse to recognize the value of a walk.

Dusty is addicted to double switches like its heroin. he cant help himself. he needs some intervention.

He needs to be fired, but Hendry is not smart enough to see that Dusty is a very bad manager.

and yet yesterday he wastes an appearance by Williamson to keep the game a 6 run deficit with three outs to go.

It's about to get even worse with Lee out.
