Pujols seems like a stand-up guy but I'm still harboring hope that he's really 33 right now.

I disagree. He stares at his homeruns and walks halfway down the first base line...

These things don't happen to all teams. How many starts did White Sox pitchers miss last year? How about Cardinals pitchers? How many injuries other than Jeter/Huckaby and Giambi's steroids infection have the Yanks dealt with since 2001? Other than Schill's bloody sock, what serious problems has Boston had in the last couple of years?

These things DON'T happen to all teams. 6-foot-6 man-children do not get their wrists fractured by people who are smaller than my 13-year-old brother. It just doesn't happen.

Last year Rolen was ran over by Choi and was done for the year.

The curse thing gets old.

so I'm taking care of some odd jobs around the house and have only been able to catch a couple of plays up until now. they are

- bases loaded hard hit groundball backhanded by Rolen, blown call at first base

- 3-2 pitche to J-Rod right down the middle of the plate, called a ball.

you know it's frustrating watching the Cubs always swinging at every three ball pitch and refusing to take a walk. but guess what guys...if the batter is wearing a big red C, that's strike three, I guaranty.

Someone please convice me that Aramis Ramirez will start to hit the ball eventually. Thanks in advance....

Nor do others team start the year with two of their best picthers on the DL year, after year, after year.

Weeeee from bad to worse wild pitch nobdoy out Edmonds on second. The truth is the Cubs players and the Cubs fans are all feeling sorry for themselves right now. Yes teams have to suck up the injuries and find ways to win but its hard when you are a team that never seems to have much good happen to you, and when it finally does disaster strikes again anyway.

No kidding, he needs to pick it up. He has to be our best hitter while Lee is out. In reality, I have more faith in Walker, Barrett, Murton, Cedeno and even Pierre right now to come through in a pressure situation.

and then Nunez has a 900+ ops for two and a half months.

I don't believe in a curse either, but there really has to be some other force at work here.

Derrek's injury was a freak thing.

But how many games did the White Sox lose to injury last year? Other than Frank Thomas, did anyone spend any serious time on the DL?

What about the Brewers or the D-Rays?

I'd guess that if we switched staffs with any of those clubs, we wouldn't have as many injuries.

Injuries are sometimes bad luck, but they're often the result of bad institutional practices. Cubs management shrugs its shoulders when it should be holding people accountable.

Sure it gets old but, how many starts did Carpenter and Mulder miss last season?

Does anybody else get the feeling that the Cubs are abit demoralize after losing Lee for 2 months? I know Dusty call a team meeting to get this team refocused, but this team still seem to be very dependant on Lee, especially Ramirez.

This is why the Cubs NEEDED a VOCAL LEADER. Someone who is willing to lead, and again this team is TOO quiet, when it comes to leadership.

You could be correct. Last night it looked like everybody was feeling sorry for themself, including Len and Bob.

However, good teams overcome injuries. This is why many of us wanted another big bat either in the outfield or on the bench. Instead we got Jaque and bench full of utility players.

Nevertheless, They need to buck up and play good smart baseball.

If the cubs fall apart I will blame Dusty and not injuries. When these things happen, and they do to all teams, it is the manager's job to get the team going.

Double swithcing Walker in the 6th for Neifi isn't going to get it done.

Agree, CubsinNY. Somebody needs to take a tough loving apprach to these guys, and forced them to forget about Lee for the next 2 months, and play some dang baseball. The Cards COMPENSATED for losing Scott Rolen last year, and they went to the NLCS. So it CAN be done. This team needs to stop feeling sorry for themselves.
