Bryce Florie of the Red Sox is the pitcher who got hit in the face and was bleeding all over the place.

MadDog's performance tonight is the best I've seen a Cubs pitcher in a very long time.

Let's keep up our winning ways. :D

Let's keep you starting the game threads.

Just got back from the game. Maddux was completely awesome. I was right next to the Cubs' bullpen, so I got to talk to those guys a bit. When I said hi to David Aardsma (I think), he said that it wasn't him, and his name was John. I think he was lying, because how could you forget that face (Cubbies75, I'm talking to you)? Plus, who in our bullpen is named John? No one I know. For anyone at the game, the Cubs fan starting chants in the right field bleachers was my drunken idiot college buddy, if you were close enough to hear. I'm going again tomorrow - hopefully Zambrano is as dominating as Maddux was.

Yay! Bragging rights in the office (for a day)!

My dad is a Dodgers fan and every once and a while I'll remind him of the 20-1 beatdown we gave them in 2001. And I remember sending him a picture of a broom last year when they swept the Dodgers.

But I'm not saying anything yet. I did that another time when the Cubs won the first game and then they lost the next two. Hopefully this will turn out like last year.

Hey Everybody, 2 things...I got the Lofton note from the front page of the Dodger notes. It said Lofton had never faced Maddux before. I assume that meant regular season. I hadn't considered the post-season. Good call though...

On the Pierre/Cedeno play, I'm still not sure about the scoring on it because the ball clearly hit Ronny, but I think the call was interference. We never got an explanation on the scoring decision, and I racked my brain looking through the rule book and I decided at the time they must have ruled FC instead of hit for Pierre because Robles would have fielded it and gotten an out had it not hit Cedeno. But the guys on the cubs.com board noted that there is no such provision in the rule book. Therefore, based on the scoring, I think interference was the call, not the ball hitting the runner. If the ball hit Cedeno first, I believe JP gets a hit regardless of what happened next because the ball is dead. Strange play...I'm going to ask the official scorer when I get to the park tomorrow and see what the ruling actually was. The ball did hit Ronny. He may have touched Robles too, but I would lean toward the ball hitting him first. That way JP can pick up a hit!

Hope you're all doing well...

Am I really gullible, or is this really Len Kasper? If so, I was just floored by awesomeness.

Yeah, it's me...I'm a night owl, even on the west coast! I'm done for the night though...that scoring decision kept me up too late! I'm such a geek...what a performance by Maddux tonight. Just brilliant.

How about some shoutouts for the kids down in the minors every now and again! ;)

Thanks for checking in Len! It's really nice to have this level of interaction with people who work for the Cubs.

Wow...thanks for dropping by Len. Scully must have been confused on the Cedeno play as well because he never definitively said anything either. He just went on as usual.

I'm glad the next game is on WGN so I can listen to you and Bob as I watch. (Not that it isn't a treat to listen to Scully though!)

Thanks for the update, but if you want a good analysis of the rulebook, cubs.com forum is not the place to look for it. :P

Good to see you, Len! :D
