If Pierre didn't have speed, a run wouldn't have scored in that at bat because he wouldn't have been on second. Therefore, speed got us a run.

You can't assume that. Pitchers pitch differently in different situations.

 

Why can't you just give Pierre credit for stealing second and scoring on a single?
