Jacque will get a hit now, if we cyberfans have anything to say about it.

Honestly, I hate having him on the team and hate his contract, but more than that I don't want another Hawkins/Patterson/Hundley/Alfonseca situation where the hometown crowd boos the guy mercilessly. It makes games very unpleasant and even embarrassing to watch. Jacque needs to get some hits so I can watch games without being embarrassed by the Wrigley crowd's behavior.

Also, how will Hendry ever unload Jacque if he totally bombs? I would hope he does at least well enough to be tradeable.

Trade him to the Dodgers.

We are hoping he stops sucking and contributes to the team effort tomorrow. Simple as that.

It's easy to boo and rip on a guy who signed for some dollars and starts slow but....I seem to recall Derrick Lee starting a bit slow last season. Yes, it is apples & oranges but I've never been a big believer in throwing a Cubs player under the truck after 5 games.

Backtracking, the premise of this thread is that if we hit 3 pages then Jacque will get a hit tomorrow. We've hit that mark so we will see if our cyber influence matters, LMAO!

Derrek started off like a house afire last year. It was '04 when he had his typically slow start.

Thanks. Obviously my memory filter was corrupted by the 2004-2005 debacle. I meant to reference the 2004 season. Yes, last season was a bit different as D. Lee had been a notorious slow starter.

I will never claim to be a fountain of knowledge and I'm glad I have peeps here to cover my oversights! :D

I guess 2004 and 2005 kind of bled together in my mind. I'm still in denial over the 2003 NLCS.

The big difference between Jacque and Patterson is that Jacque actually cares.

Oh lord.

Dude just knows how to win.

Yeah. I don't think that is an argument I would touch. You can't really know what makes a guy tick. Sure, you can make educated guesses but in the end, it is what is.

I really thought Patterson would end up being a good player.

I'm all for Cubs players getting hits, but I'd not be too upset if he walked thrice instead.

Go Jacque.

I'm all for that since it will help get mhuber's name changed. And that's what I really want to see. :D

One thing I saw in Jaque in a few at bats was patience and knowing the strike zone. he got to 3 balls quite a bit of times. It's only that once that happens, he turns into Cpatt and swings at the next 3 desperately trying to get a hit.

I predict once he gets a couple of hits, he will settle down. He is desperately trying to please cubs fans, and that's why he's struggling.

If anything, he did cause Carpenter to pitch more pitches today. Corey would be down 1-2-3.

EDIT: OOPS I compared him to Corey.

I hear ya. I'm just now coming out of my cubbie-numbness from 2003. That's what happens when you watch the playoffs with Yankee fans.

Yay, jock is sure to get a hit today, now.

Also, I understand the sentiment that booing a player after 4 games is a bit ridiculous, however this situation is different then last year when J.D. Drew, someone you knew was going to be good, started out 0-36 or something like that. We knew Jones was going to suck, and he's just doing it in a slightly larger magnitude then we thought.

Here's to Jock batting 8th.

But in general....

....you want him incapacitated?

Nah... just a case of my inner Simpsons nerd showing itself. That was a paraphrased quote borrowed from El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer. (The Guatemalan insanity peppers episode.)

I'm throwing my support behind the Jacque Express! 2 walks already...that's more than Corey had last year right? I call it progress. GO Jacque...Go Cubs.

Rumor has it that Tim was heard saying that Jacque will get a hit for every two people that sign up for premium today. He also gave Cardinal fans an oppurtunty by stating any two Cardnial fans can sign up for premium to cancel out one Cub fan membership.

I'm planning my day around this game, so Jacque better come up trumps. I'm gonna be both very tired and/or irritable by the time he gets to bat, so he better swing well.

Also, if he gets a HR, I'll be able to further test that all the people who selected Jones J in the HR Derby (6 - count 'em) have the correct line. Which would be good. It would also guarantee the Cubs at least a run, which would also be good.

Why is everybody cheering for this guy?

Just out of curiousity, how is Kojak related to Jones? Nevertheless, I'm bestowing the nickname Kojak to him.
