You're right, it was a neck injury. However, if he was ready to play in January of 05 apparently, then either his coach made a grave error considering that team was on the brink of being really good, or there was more to his injury than was let on.

As I said in response to jjgman21, I think Brady severly underestimated Thomas' potential. Not really his fault. Nobody else saw it either at the time.

A search of Amare's injury history netted no questions about his injury-laden past like Thomas' does.

I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy with Thomas, I'm just saying there's some injury issues about Thomas that didn't exist with Stoudemire.

I wouldn't call a neck injury that should have sidelined him for less than two months an issue. This isn't a knee, ankle or back problem, it doesn't appear chronic because it wasn't an issue this year, and how often do basketball players injury their necks anyway?

Also, how about drafting Glen Davis in the second round? We need a "presence" on the inside, right?

The Bulls don't have a second round pick this year.

Yes, I believe the fact that we will have a top-5 pick transfers our 2nd round pick to Utah. A convoluted part of the Curry deal. The Jazz would've gotten the Knicks' pick instead of our 2nd-rounder if the Knicks had managed to get any of picks 26-30 in the first round.

My draft board:

1. Aldridge

2. Thomas

3. Noah

4. Bargnai

5. Gay

Of those 5, Aldridge, Gay, Thomas, Bargnai, Noah. But I'm pretty sure I'd have somebody else up there instead of Bargnai or Noah, but it's far too late to figure out who.

I really think it would be a big mistake for the Bulls to take Thomas while Aldridge is still on the board, but I'd like to see how other people have it ranked. Obviously, I mean as a fit for the Bulls, not overall.

Assuming Noah's telling the truth about not entering the draft, my top 5 best fit for the Bulls next year would be:

1. Aldridge

2. Bargnini

3. Roy

4. Thomas

5. McRoberts

But I think ceiling is more important than best fit for next year, so this is how I'd rank and draft them:

1. Thomas

2. Bargnini

3. McRoberts

4. Aldridge

5. Roy

What does everyone want with the second first rounder? I really am hoping Foye drops to the Bulls.

Ronnie Brewer would make me very happy. I don't think he'll last that long. I'd be tempted to take Redick at 16 if the Jazz pass on him at 13, but he's not a great fit for the Bulls.

Current mock has the Bulls taking Brewer with pick number 2. I could live with him or Redick.

There's no way Foye drops to the Bulls, although if he did I'd love to have him.

As it stands now (and for the past week or so), the Bulls second pick would be at 16, not 12 like it is in that draft.

While we're at it, how does Portland have the 1st pick? Must be a clerical error over there.

Portland has the worst record as of right now. Obviously its a temporary placement as the lottery will determine the real order.

Wow, where'd that come from? They must have really fallen like a rock because I thought it had been a Knicks/Hawks/Bobcats race all year.

Is Thomas declaring for the draft for sure? Is it official?
Andy Katz[/url]"]Brady said he expects redshirt freshman Tyrus Thomas to test the draft process and put his name in by the April 29 cutoff. He said Thomas wants to be a top-five pick or he might withdraw by the June 18 deadline.

I was hoping we'd miss the playoffs so we could get a better draft pick

Thats dumb for 3 reasons:

1) We are already going to have a top 4 draft pick anyways

2) This is a very shallow draft

3) Provided we didn't win the lottery (and being one of the best teams left out, we'd have less then a 3% chance of winning) or draft pick would be 14-15. Having clinched the playoffs, our draft pick "plummets" to 16. Not worth tanking it for.

I hope the Knicks continue their suckiness so Greg Oden is ours

What a spectacularly bad trade that was for the Knicks. They got Curry, they still suck, they are like $1 jabillion over the cap, and the Bulls own two consecutive first rounders. Isaia Thomas is a Moran

He's a genious (In Chicago) :D :P. We don't excatly own the Knicks pick in 2007. We have the right to swap picks with them

I pretty much agree -- except everything I've read indicates this is a deep draft overall that is shallow in terms of potential at the top. That might've been your point.

According to reports out of Baton Rouge, Tyrus Thomas will enter the draft, but Big Baby will stay at LSU.

LSU phenom freshman forward Tyrus Thomas is expected to announce that he will enter the NBA draft at a 3 p.m. press conference on the LSU campus today, and star center Glen "Big Baby" Davis is expected to announce he will be staying for his junior year.

This according to former LSU basketball player Collis Temple, who coached both players in AAU ball and has long been close to them, and others close to the basketball program.

I know he's not a Bulls target and it was only a matter of time, but ESPN says Rudy Gay is declaring for the draft.

One of the guys who had to drive UConn fans absolutely bonkers this season. This is a guy who should have been the best player in the tournament because of his sheer level of talent...yet he was incredibly lazy at times and was streaky to near-maddening degrees.

Here's hoping the Bulls stay away from him. Yeesh.
