I hate off days!

Me too.

and another off day Thursday! Brilliant schedule makers! Surely the Cubs are gassed after playing one game in a row! They surely won't need those off days in August!

I hate the early days off too but to be fair to the schedule makers, an off-day following Opening Day is to accommodate inclimate weather that might PPD the game and make playing on the "off day" a necessity. I think playing Cincy is also important in the equation. They have the oldest franchise so MLB seems to make sure they have no problems with getting in the first game (without a need for a double header).

Game isn't until tomorrow, and the game thread is already on its 2nd page. I LOVE BASEBALL!

I loved the fact that the thread for the opening day game was already at 15 pages before the game even started.

Pretty obvious we were all missing baseball. I was looking at the cubs.com game thread and they had over 1400 posts yesterday. Cubs fans are amazing!

That's because that thread was started in january or even last year. You notice the first post line-up included. .

Pierre, Furcal, Dlee, Aram, Giles? That was a pretty optimistic prediction of the off season. LOL.

That would have been a HELL of a first 5. Crap that would have been a hell of a lineup:

Pierre, CF

Furcal, SS

Dlee, 1B

Aram, 3B

Giles, RF

Barrett, C

Walker, 2B

Murton, LF

Is there really a need for an off-day after the first game? I'd much rather have one in the long run where there's 10 straight games road/home.

It's not for the players. It's for all the cities like Cincy where the fans only care on Opening Day and if it rains out they can play the next day and all those fans can still use their tickets for "Opening Day." I hate it too, but I would do the same thing if I was in their place.

The off day after opening day doesn't bother me much. My problem is with the off day after the 2nd game. That's just dumb.

I liked the Sports Guy's idea of having opening day for everybody be Sunday afternoon. You can have an opening night game on ESPN still. There's nothing going on between Final 4 Saturday and Championship Monday. More people could avoid conflicts with work to attend games. More people could catch the games on TV. You could also schedule the occasional 4 game series that first week, which would help deal with some of the odd quirks with the varied divisions.

Let's hope the wind is blowing in from left at about 75mph or Rusch is gonna get bombed.

They're expecting winds from about 10-15 mph blowing out to LF or left center field, with game time temps in the low 50s.

I read that today too, and I completely agree. I don't know of any reason why MLB couldn't start everything on Sunday instead of Monday. It would incread the convience for millions of fans. Then again, we are talking about MLB and this plan makes too much sense for them to implement it.

I'm gonna miss the game. Stupid job.

Hate world, kill everyone.

Or not.

Anyway, I'd watch out for Dunn. He'll want to make up for his misadventures in LF yesterday.

Well, I'll be able to see a bit of it during my lunch break. Unfortunately, I won't get to see the end of it, so more than likely, I'll be relying on you fellas on FlashChat to give some PBP if possible.

Days like this I regret scheduling classes from 11-3 on MWF. Especially when I have Tuesdays and Thursdays set up perfectly for Cubs viewing and they naturally have those days off 4 times this month.
