I saw this on the truth and rumors part of cnnsi.com.

Mark Prior, Kerry Wood and Wade Miller are rehabbing injuries, and one of them could push Sean Marshall out of the rotation eventually. Wood might return in late April, and Dusty Baker said he hopes to get Prior back in May. -- Chicago Tribune

Here is the link.

IMO, this means Prior will be out until June and Wood will go back on the DL again before Prior gets back.

Well, I wouldn't rule out your scenario, but I don't think it'll necessarily happen that way. When the original 7-10 day thing was announced, I held out hope he'd be back by late April. Now I'm thinking May is more realistic, and not overly aggressive either. And I think Wood will make it back and make almost all his starts from late April thru the season.

Wanna make a wager on that?

What would you like to wager exactly?

I always hold out hope for the best case scenario and I definately would not mind you being right in this case because it would most likely mean a good season for the Cubs. Here's hoping you're right.

Ain't gonna happen.

I'm in agreement with goony on this one.

I am concerned that we have heard nothing about Prior throwing since he made 30 tosses four days ago.

I'm also anxious to hear how Kerry's stint against hitters went today.

Why not?

Given Kerry's history I think the burden of proof falls on you to prove that it will happen.

Elbow (TJS) - Fixed

Shoulder - Fixed

Knee - Fixed

What else is wrong with him?

Nobody can prove anything either way. But it's not like it would be unprecedented for him to go 5 months making almost all of his starts.

I actually don't want to hear anything about Prior until they announce when his first start in a real game will be. I would just as soon not know anything untill then.

I don't think Wood will make almost all of his starts but I am not willing to put a bet on it.

I don't think he'll make a full seasons worth of starts. I just think he'll make almost all of his starts, from the end of April through the season. If you call 33 starts a full season, then take off 5 starts for April. Now you're at 28, and I think he can make 25 or so.

If he makes 25 or more starts, I'll buy your premium membership for a year and if not, you buy it for me.

the journey will be interesting.

I maintain with some knowledge (and not emotions) that Wood's issue could have been his knee and if that is right now he might just have a Sutcliffe kind of year ('89)

Prior, will return and do well, the question is not them it is Marshall and Rusch.

Proof = Contract year + Cubs luck...

He makes all of his starts once he comes back, convinces management that he's straight and over the injury bug, and then gets a 3 yr $36 contract as a result, then spends the next three years on the DL.

Bank on it.

You won't see Prior until after the all-star break at the earliest. Maybe later.

Ah, hell. I'll join in on the fun, too. Care to wager on that?

Very true. After all, it isn't that long ago (2002 and 2003) that he went two years without missing any starts. If all of his injuries have been corrected and reports about him working on changing his mechanics are true there's no reason he can't have another extended run of good health. It certainly isn't a given, but I don't think it would be that much of a surprise either.

Oh my. Kruk just said the Cubs should trade Prior to the Yankees for Cano near the All-Star break. I guess the bigger question is why am I watching Kruk.

What's so bad about that deal? It would have sounded insane to give Prior for almost anybody a year or two ago, but I'd have to seriously consider a deal for a guy like Cano at this point. At least Cano plays.
