I mentioned this in a pervious thread hoping Barrett would do this. With Prior and Woods health it's okay to dream. Also Barretts journal has been a great read throughout the classic.

"I did throw in a serious sales pitch about coming and playing for the Chicago Cubs. I said, "Roger, you want to leave this game with the best baseball experience you could have? I don't think it could get any better than putting on a Cubs uniform and winning a World Series for the Cubbies." He laughed. I said, "Roger, I'm serious."

I knew there was a reason I liked Barrett.

Can you imagine a rotation with Zambrano and Clemens as the #1a and #1b. =P~

And healthy Prior and Wood for a #1c and #1d. Hey, if we can dream about Clemens, we can dream about those 2 being at 100%, can't we?

Clemens then told him to "Get your f-in' shinebox."

Jimy. Clemens coming to Chicago and winning the World Series would be a great story.

Then again... Jimy is a misspel coming to Chicago and Winning a WS would be a great story too.

Barrett is on my list along with DLee and Z as Cubs I just plain like. Really cool of him to try that out even though there's 0 chance of it happening.

Might as well ask for a completely healthy Wade Miller and a circa 1995 Greg Maddux, too.

For what it's worth. Barrett is a player I really like.

He fights for his team, protects his pitchers, and plays above his head. He may not be the most talented athlete, but he plays hard and makes up for it with a lot of heart.

Barrett = Solid.

Stranger things have and will happen. Hopefully Roger and Michael have made a friendship that they'll keep up now that the classic is over. If May comes and the Astros are sinking, the Rangers aren't doing too well, and he just doesn't feel like opening the Yankees/Red Sox can of worms...maybe he'll remember the advice he got

I agree he reminds me of a young Joe Girardi.

He also reminds me of Brad Wilkinson. Yikes!

If he grew a Walrus mustache then he'd be Barry Foot.

How could Clemens say no to this face?

haha i know i couldn't.

But honestly i'm torn about whether I'd want Clemens on the Cubs. Oh I know he could really help the team. I've never admired him though. Perhaps it's unjustified, but he's always been one of my least favorite players. I view him kind of like I view Barry. Am I foolish for seeing it that way?

I don't admire him much as a person, and I wouldn't go out and buy a Clemens jersey or anything, but I wouldn't have any sort of problem with him on the team.
