Its been discussed in the Prior delayed again thread but I think this is newsworth even for its own thread.

Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee was also scheduled to be examined by Yocum after bruising his left shoulder while diving for a foul ball in the U.S.-Japan game Sunday in the World Baseball Classic. Hendry said Lee may pull out of the tournament for precautionary reasons if it's more than just a bruise.

This DLee thing might just be the Cubs protecting their interests. I wouldn't be surprised if they called Martinez, following the game against Japan, to ask him to sit Lee. The team may be ordering this doctor's visit as a precaution (remember, the talk is that the Cubs wanted to extend him before the season starts. I'm sure they want assurances that he's healthy first). :fingers crossed:

I'm hoping Lee withdraws from the WBC and makes sure he's healthy for the 2006 MLB season.

Is it? I don't really think it is but since the Olympics won't take baseball we have to some world tournament apparently.

Does Lee have to sit in the lobby reading old National Geographics while he waits for Yocum to be done with Prior?

An injury for Lee in some 1 month alternate ST is worth an entire Cubs season?

Oh please jebus no.... :(

But Barrett said just yesterday according to cubs.com

There was some concern that Derrek Lee is hurt. I think he's OK. He didn't play because it was his turn to sit.

Oh man. Oh man. Oh man. :-#

And a play like that could never happen in a regular ST game, could it?

Keep in mind that DLee was already in the L.A. area because of the WBC.

This actually makes sense to me as a precautionary measure.

Derrek Lee visited Dr. Lewis Yocum on Tuesday after he bruised his left shoulder in Sunday's WBC game against Japan.

Lee was hurt on an excellent catch in foul territory, but he wasn't forced to leave the game. He's expected to be just fine. Mar. 14 - 8:17 pm et

Sounds like Lee has already been in to see Yocum.

Paul Sullivan in The Trib[/url]"] Lee hit off a tee Tuesday in Anaheim before a trip to Dr. Lewis Yocum regarding his bruised left shoulder, which he hurt while diving for a foul ball Sunday in a World Baseball Classic game between the U.S. and Japan.

"He still had a little bit of residual soreness [Tuesday]," Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal said. "We're not going to take any chances with Derrek."

Hendry said it was "very similar to what he experienced last year," referring to a three-game stretch in July when Lee sat out with a stiff shoulder. If Yocum determines the injury is serious, Lee might have to pull out of the WBC.

"If Lew feels there's an MRI or arthrogram needed and [Lee] has to be shut down for three or four days, then, obviously, in everybody's best interest it wouldn't make any sense to keep playing this week," Hendry said.

"If there's no risk or he doesn't need to miss time or he's not going to do any further damage, representing his country means a lot. I'll put that [decision] in Lew Yocum's hands any day. He's obviously one of the best."

The Cubs could not afford to lose Lee for any length of time, especially if Prior is out for an extended stretch.

The Cubs will be fine look how well the Cardinals did last year even with all of the injuries they had. (Rolen,Walker,Sanders) oh, thats right we're talking about the Cubs not the Cardinals. Nevermind, your seasons over.
