If I'm not mistaken the package costs around $150. DirectTV will let you pay it in three monthly installments.

I've had it for three years and love it. Not only does it let me watch the Cubs, but I've enjoyed watching the other games as well.

It's probably the best money I spend all year.

Great to hear...would you say you get 50% of the Cubs games? 60? 75? 80?

I get most of the games not on WGN. If they play the Astros, I'm blacked out since MLB considers me a part of their market. However if the Astros are on my FOX sports station, I can watch there.

I'd say I get 80% or higher.

That sounds perfect....I figure being here in St. Louis I'd get most all the games except the cards games...and I get all those anyway...80% is sure better than the 20% I get now...

In regards to blackouts, the Direct TV folks told me something to the point that I'm blacked out of market games. In my case, I'm in the region that has Fox Sports Net Ohio. Because of that, I'm blacked out of any Cubs/Reds games on MLB EI that FSN Ohio shows. It's complicated, but that's how it worked last year.

Last year was my first year of MLB EI and I absolutely loved it. I'm with Vance in that I enjoy being able to watch lots of games in addition to the Cubs. Being in the central time zone, I enjoy being able to stay up and watch the games on the west coast.

If you love baseball and have the money to spend, it is well worth it.

Not that you need another opinion on the matter, but I've had MLB EI for 4 years, and I love it. I would say that between MLB EI, ESPN, and WGN I get to see about 150-155 games a year. I feel that it has been worth every penny.

Not sure...I just called my cable company and they said they couldn't sell it yet because they didn't know what the price woudl be this year.

As a Cards fan in suburbs of Chicago, I don't know what I would do without MLB EI.

The past few years there has been an early bird price for subscribers and you can split your payments over 4 months.

Posted
I'm really not sure when it becomes available. DirectTV has usually had an early bird price which saves about $15. They just add it to my bill as soon as it becomes available and I have a chance to pay it or decline. I've never declined.

I'm still debating whether to purchase this if you're local to your teams market, although I hated not being able to see other games last year.

I was hoping you'd get a glimpse of more spring training games, but I guess these are not televised anyway (the ones that aren't televised locally).

I agree that it is the best money you can spend to be able to watch hundreds of games. I loved staying up and listening to Vin Scully call Dodger games, he is just a magnificent announcer.

If your in your team's local market, it may not be worth it. If you like watching lots of baseball it is, but that is up to you.

My wife laments that I'll watch a Cubs afternoon game, then at 6 PM start watching a game on the east coast. I may switch to a central time zone game or stay with the east coast game at 7...often flipping between innings to catch another game and see which are most exciting. At 9, I'll add a west coast game to the rotation. A day full of watching baseball...nothing beats it.

I'm definitely going to do it, I remember last year thinking it would be worth it for just a handful of good games I missed. You just don't get as much value if you already get to see all of your home team games.

If you are in St. Louis check to see which games are blacked out in your area. I live in Iowa and on EI I don't get any Cubs, Cardinals, Twins, Royals or White Sox games - while strangely enough I can get all the Brewers games even though they are probably geographically the closest to me. Having said that I wouldn't be without the package - I work at night most of the time and I love to come home and watch an Angels or A's game after work. I can still get almost all of the Cubs games through Comcast and some White Sox and Cards games also.

Even if you are in your home teams market, I still think it is worth it, especially if you just love to watch baseball or are in a fantasy baseball league. Plus you can follow all the big storylines, Rollins continuing his hitting streak to start the season, Bonds' pursuit of Ruth, etc.....

I love it. I actually don't order it anymore. My cable company just automatically renews it each year.

It wouldn't be worth it if I lived in the market area of the team I was focused on. I live in San Diego, and they don't show any San Diego games on MLB EI. But, you wouldn't need it if that was the only team you wanted to see. San Diego has their own Padres baseball channel.

The only Cub games that don't show on MLB EI that I can think of are WCIU broadcast games. There have been a few instances where they didn't have enough channels for all the 4pm (7pm East Coast time) games, and on a rare occasion, it's the Cubs that aren't airing, but I see enough games that this doesn't hurt my feelings all that much.

Great deal . I have direct tv, so with GN , i get all games but the sat fox games that are not showing the cubs. With tivo , i really have no excuse not to follow the boys . Coach L

my brother and i will be buying this for the first time too...the only games that get blacked out here are the Reds games(on mlb.tv anyway) so i think we'll get our fair share of games, I CAN'T WAIT!

I agree, it's well worth the money. Not only do you get to see all Cub games. But if you're into fantasy baseball it's almost a must have. It's amazing how into a game you can get if you have a fantasy pitcher starting in one of the games. Plus it's always fun to see the look of disgust in you're wife's face when you're up at midnight watching the Angels and Devil Rays.

well worth the money - I am with Dishnetwork and my bill this month already has the first installment. So it will be paid by May...It is really the greatest invention (along with DVR) - I can watch the game at night in about 1.5 hours instead of sitting down for the entire thing.

The only thing is the Saturday games - that is sort of frustrating when they are not on WGN and not on Fox - you cannot get them (it is like after May something I think). Also, you get alot of other announcers instead of the Cubs guys - sometimes the other teams.

Also - for the first time last year, just to sit and listen to Vin Scully for the Dodgers, never really done that before - he is really good.
