AP"]"I learned a lesson. I never took a first shot at anybody in my life and now I feel like I took the first shot. I feel embarrassed, I feel guilty. I wish I had not said it the way it sounds or the way I said it," Guillen said at a news conference at the White Sox spring training complex on reporting day for pitchers and catchers.
AP"]"Shut it up," Steinbrenner said Saturday, moving his hands across his lips in a zipper move. "I like Ozzie Guillen as a manager, but I don't like him when he pops off like that," the Boss said, following with a profanity.

That is pretty funny. Steinbrenner though......he's never been one to apply the old zipper to himself, either.

Ozzy can do this and get away with it just as long as the White Sox keep winning. When the tables turn, he's going to have to keep it zipped or else there will be real trouble for him.

An angry winner is confusing to most folks, so they give it a pass thinking it's just "colorful." In Ozzy's case, I don't think it's colorful. He's just a hateful person who happens to be on the winning end right now, IMHO.

An angry loser is a sore loser and a turn off. Most people lose patience with those folks very quickly

Ozzie Guillen doesn't know anything more about being a foreigner than A-Rod or Nomar does. The guy has a crapload of money and one of the easiest jobs one can have. He doesn't know what the hell being a foreigner is like anymore. I'd say more but I'd probably get banned. Summary: Ozzie's an ass.

so let me get this straight. because he now has money he doesn't know what it's like to be from another country?

aren't most of you people with the "if your last name ends in a vowel you can play for italy" jokes, but when ozzie basically says the same stuff he's wrong? hmm.

I don't know what you are talking about with the Italy jokes, but the point is that A-Rod and Nomar both had parents that were full-blooded members of their own countries. Now if I were to use my great-grandfather's emigration from Germany as a reason to play for Germany in a competition, then it would be ridiculous. But A-Rod and Nomar are about as much Dominican and Mexican respectively as any major league player, and Ozzie knew that and decided to pop off anyway.

Maddux is the closest to perfection, but you strive for perfection regardless of the inability to obtain it.

Prior has a chicken-wing delivery.

He has flaws that can lead to a higher injury rate under a higher workload.

As a PC, one of your goals is to maintain the health of a pitcher and improving mechanics is one of the ways to turn around the injury pattern of a pitcher, although Prior has only had one injury caused by faulty mechanics.

But, Prior was "off" last year mechanically. People get blinded by the smoothness of his delivery and he starts his motion very well, but to maintain a clean bill of health, he has some things to work on.

Ever watch Byrd's delivery? It's a slightly less torqued version of Prior's, similar ease of pitching, but a long history of arm problems.

This annoys me so much. Back in 2002/2003, everyone of the message board people who heard Steve Stone say the word "mechanics" and suddenly declared themselves pitching motion experts thought that Prior had mechanics not even Jesus himself could compete with. a few years later, he has run into a toy second baseman, strained a hammy running out a ground ball, gotten hit in the elbow by a line drive, and had achilles trouble and suddenly his wind-up is flawed beyond repair and he is destined for a future of arm troubles.

I agree. As long as Ozzie is winning, he can pop off and likely get away with it. However, if his team tanks and Ozzie continues popping off, he will find himself unemployed.

Who said that?

Even Prior himself said that after the liner off the arm that his mechanics were out of whack. One of his goals of the offseason was to correct the flaws in his mechanics.

He does have flaws in his delivery, don't need to be an expect or a mock expert to point them out. I'll trust my eyes and the knowledge I've accumulated. You watch his elbows after he breaks his hands and gets them parallel w/his shoulder, his elbows are back beyond his shoulder. Some say he has late pronation which puts excess strain on his UCL, which I don't buy.

His delivery wasn't the same at the end of the year as it was early on.

I don't quite follow. Were his mechanics great before the line drive, and he is still trying to work his way back to them? Or was it flawed even before that and he needs to develop something new? He always had a little chicken-wing action, but I don't remember anyone ever calling it a problem before the line drive.

Ozzie claim what he said is the "truth", but the fact is...he stuck his nose in somebody business that he had NO RIGHT to be in. Regardless of which team ARod chosed, Ozzie had no right to meddle in Arod affairs (same with Pedro Martinez). Ozzie (and Pedro) both came off as being VERY, VERY bitter with their "keystone cop" type statements.

Ozzie just showed why he is an "donkey's behind."

Your comment about Ozzie can get away with this as long as the Sox are winning is true. Look at Mike Ditka. Anything he says is considered the Gospel in Chicago. That's what's happening with Ozzie & Kenny Williams now. Not too long ago, Kenny Williams was considered a laughing stock among GMs. Unfortunately, with the team they have and in the Division they're in, we might have to put up with these two for awhile.

His mechanics have always been very good at the start of his delivery even after the line drive. Putting his elbows beyond his shoulders was not as pronounced as before. The main thing that changed was the angle of the elbow during the acceleration phase of the delivery.
