I didn't realize that both the audio and the video from the 2003 postseason were still available for free at MLB.com. Even if it is hard to watch knowing the final outcome, I can't resist watching Sammy homer to tie Game 1 in the 9th, or listening to Pat's call of said home run. The NLDS media from that year is presumably accessible by following the appropriate link at the top of the page.

Going into the 2006 season, I like to think of this as a reminder that no matter the disagreements that go on here, and throughout Cub fandom, we all want the same thing when it comes down to it: To see our Cubs there again, and go beyond this time.

Enjoy. :D

Thanks for the link! I wasn't watching the Cubs when they got there in 2003 (yes I know, shame on me). . But the 2003 has brought me back, full time, every game, every minute. As a cubs fan. I'll watch those condensed games so I too can experience the horror. I think that's something I owe myself as a Cubs fan.

Something for me to watch this evening, too. I've been going through a lot of Baseball's Best at MLB.com of late, but this is probably 'better' (Well, of more interest)

Thats still soooo depressing to me. Holy crap. If you dig around in there you can find Kerry's homer in game 7. When that happened, it was the best moment of my life....

I've had it bookmarked for awhile. It's kinda sad to watch the Kerry homer, but if you watch Alou's HR in the 5th, Wrigley didn't seem as loud. Weird.

I was cleaning some stuff and found the video from Game 1 of the NLCS. It didn't match being there live, but it brought back some great memories.

When Sammy Sosa hit that HR in the 9th inning, when I had less than zero faith that the Cubs were going to get a run in that situation, I just about exploded. What an amazing moment.

What a bittersweet experience to watch and read those highlights. Man, to see DLee double down the line with 1 out in the 8th in game 6 is just weird!

Excuse me while I go cry a little... we came so close, yet so far away!

They played after the top of the 8th? I think I was buried in my beer for the rest of that game.

the "sleep" i got after game 6 was one of the worst sleeps i've ever had in my life. never in my 23 years have i lost sleep over a baseball game until then. the feeling of "only this team..." was thought that fateful day. on the plus side, i was at game 2, which was a day before my 21st birthday. and what an early birthday present it was. the mob outside wrigley after the game was absolutely insane. thousands of people in the streets yelling "go cubs go!" and beer flowing everywhere. and the dude dressed up as the ivy was hilarious and classic at the same time.

i miss those times.

and on the subject of the 2003 playoff media, i remember reading jay marrioti's articles throughout september and october. it seemed like every 3 or 4 days, he would change his opinion on the cubs. it just showed how big of a tool he really was...take 4 of 5 over the cardinals? cubs are awesome! starting shawn estes in one of the biggest games of the year? dusty and company are a bunch of idiots. estes throws a shutout over the reds? he's a gamer who's invaluable to the cubs pitching staff. it's like flip a coin with that guy, but that's common knowledge nowadays (and back then).

That's the thing about Game 6 - I really wasn't that disappointed. I just assumed that they'd win Game 7. I was pretty down after Game 7, but I just assumed the Cubs would be back over and over again. If I knew we still wouldn't have returned to the playoffs two years later, I would have taken that loss a lot harder.

welcome to life as a cub fan. I didn't even watch Game 7 and assumed they would be back in five or six years. Yea, 1984 really jaded me.

I was so crushed after game 6. Ill never forget going to home room in high school as a senior and just putting my head down and not talking to anyone. There was like 6 die hard Cub fans in my class, and I don't think there was ever a more depressing day throughout high school.

The Kerry Wood home run is my favorite. I'll never forget how Len Kasper said he's never heard a louder stadium than when Wood hit his home run. Bittersweet memories, very bittersweet.

Mine too. You can hear the place go to another level, noise-wise.
