Would you accept Syracuse in the Big Ten if ND isn't interested in joining? I'm sure many might prefer Pitt or West Virginia so I was curious how you in the Big Ten country would feel about it. Edited by CuseCubFan69

Notre Dame isn't interested in joining so that's a dead topic...

I voted for Pitt. You'd think it makes all the sense in the world for both sides. Reinivigorate the old Pitt-PSU rivalry, and get a Big 10 championship game.

Pitt isnt a bad choice and Id be fine with it but, I voted for louisville because to me they seem to have the best programs. Good basketball team good football team so ya I choice them but would be fine with a number of those teams.

I think Missouri would be a good fit but only if the Big 12 can get another school-say Colorado State.

Mizzou is from the original Big 8, and it has rivalry ties with kU, KSU, and Nebraska. I can't see them leaving that for a conference where they only have a real history with one school.

Fixed.

Well then except for Louisville and WV there's no point having this discussion, because ND either completely plastered or would have completely plastered all the other teams on this list.

Oh, they would have? How did they do against MSU this past season? Notre Dame will not join the Big Ten after watching the mighty Penn State go from a perennial powerhouse as an indy to getting knocked around like a good team should. In the Big Ten, ND would be the next Minnesota.

Actually, Notre Dame will not join the Big Ten because they have a network TV deal that pays them a crapload of money and because they have no trouble at all making out a 12 game schedule without the help of a conference. If the Big Ten wanted ND they should have bought low and taken them back in the 1920s and 30s when they kept refusing the Irish admission.

And I'd judge that over the next decade or so, ND will be better than most of the top-tier Big Ten tams.

I forgot....who won the Big 10 last year?

Yep, those awful football teams listed above are certainly comparable to MSU.

My point was that PSU regressed to the means. It's not a knock against the program, just proof of how tough the league is in regards to football.

I understand but they blew through the Big 10 in 94 if I remember correctly. Every team in the Big 10 has had it's struggles since Penn State has joined. I think Penn State is going to be a force in the Big 10 now that Joe has relaxed a bit.

I'd take Syracuse because they seem to have the most storied history of the teams listed (in both Football and BBall), but for some reason, I dunno why but Mizzu seems like a Big 10 type of team.

There is more to consider here than ahletics... the Big Ten also has pretty good academic schools and very strong research schools... I believe at least 8 Big Ten schools each engage in over a billion dollars of research per year. So, I'm not sure where Pitt and Syracuse stand in those regards.

Syracuse usually has Academic All-Americans in football and is in the top 10 Football wise every year.

In purely geographical and athletic standards, i'd go with Pitt. They would make the basketball conference stronger, and could make the football better when they realize that Dave Wennstadt doesn't belong within 1000 feet of a football team at any time.

I voted for Louisville as a contrast to the styles of many of the Big Ten teams. It would be interesting to see how the Cardinals would match up in both basketball and football.

Sorry, no teams below the Mason-Dixon line allowed

Nope, that far west the Ohio River serves as the Mason-Dixon line.
