Hey, don't forget that we'd have both of the Reed brothers in the line up at the same time in 2008.

His little brother needs to hit more like his older brother did during his ascent to the majors.

And then the older brother needs to actually hit once he reaches the majors.

Given his tools and previous production in the minors, there's a very high chance of hitting very well in the majors.

(2) Todd Walker, Corey Patterson and Rich Hill to Seattle for Raul Ibanez and Jeremy Reed; Reed and Jerome Williams would then be dealt to Boston for Matt Clement.

Ibanez would play LF, and Murton would platoon with Jones.

Take it with a grain of salt.

Hoops

I could do that deal. It's not great, but if you're going to trade Walker, at least we get a solid starter for number five...2004 rotation re-united. Ibanez is a nice hitter and a bit underrated.

What I don't like about it is we lose all our depth (Williams and Hill) for Clement. I think Reed and Williams is a little high price for Clement, who by all indications the Red Sox want to move anyway. In fact, I thought the Red Sox were willing to trade Clement for Reed straight up.

Take Williams out of the deal and I really like it.

Could you possibly sell Rusch instead of Williams? For some reason I'm pretty high on Jerome.

Could be the 3.30 ERA in his rookie season, just 2 years ago. Could be the fact that he turned 24 less than a month ago.

I think Williams has much more value than the Cubs (and Giants for that matter) realize.

Kennedy's 3-year splits for AWAY (.298 .366 .408 .774), DAY (.310 .375 .442 .817) and even GRASS (.285 .351 .396 .747) are all good. I would be very interested if all the Cubs had to provide was Walker and a B prospect.

If I can get Jeremy Reed here, I'm sure not moving him along for Matt Clement! Been there, done that. Never a big fan of Clement's game, though I liked him as a "good guy" well enough. I'm as concerned and puzzled as everyone else about Reed's slow initial going in the bigs, but this kid's ceiling is as high or higher than Murton's. I keep him.

I'm not wild enough about Raul Ibanez to move Rich Hill for him. So how about just Todd Walker and Corey Patterson for Jeremy Reed and a prospect, is that possible?

Patterson, Walker, Angels prospect to Seattle

Pierre to the Angels

Ibanez, Kennedy, Reed to the Cubs

Maybe we send another prospect to Seattle too, but that makes us better IMO.

Eh, the deal struck me more as Ibanez being a throw in becase of salary and Reed being the real value in the deal.

This deal minus the trading for Clement part would have been great before giving a spot to Jones.

If you've got Murton, Reed, Felix Pie and Michael Restovich all in your organization, you have four of the top 20 outfield prospects in baseball from the last four years. That's pretty cool.

Let's bring in Nick Markakis, Delmon Young and Jeremy Hermida too, please. :-)

I'd make the deal for Kennedy. I think he'll match Todd at worst in production and play a little better defense.

Ibanez would make us better, but I'd prefer to keep Williams. Try to slip them Rusch instead.

Unless I'm mistaken, Rusch cannot be traded until after June 15th.

Can Rusch be traded?

As much as Clement gets by year by year w/out an arm injury, I am still surprised he has not had one to date.

What makes him so deceptive to RH'ed hitters is what scares me with his motion.

I question whether he has the stamina to last a full season, even w/out the injury last year.

If Hendry is going to do all of that to get Clement here, I think it says a lot about Wood's status, or it could be that Prior really is a piece of the Tejada deal.

Discuss.

Boston can keep clement and that fat contract. i like williams AND his little contract.

You have some serious contract envy.

If the Cubs kept Reed would Dusty feel the need to play Grissom instead or does Reed have enough AB's to be Dustyproof?

I have absolutely no interest in Clement.
