the BCS sucks. get over it. LSU didn't win that championship anymore than USC. Who cares anyway?

What? How did they not? They were given the trophy and declared Nat. Champions...

because the BCS is BS. Had LSU played USC, we would have had a champion. But they didn't, so we don't know. I don't think the BCS system justifies declaring LSU the champion just because a bunch of greedy schools agreed to a clearly flawed system. I really don't understand why anyone cares so much though? Are you that defensive of LSU or just that hateful of USC?

Tennessee won the national title 7 years ago today, good times

Penn State won 20 years ago, but don't know the date.

New Year's Day. Ahhh. Remember when all of the games were on New year's? That was nice. Now you rarely see 2 bowl games on at the same time. Thanks, corporate greed!

My dad and I ran into downtown State College and celebrated with what few students were in town over the hollidays. Ah to be 11 again. Or to have Penn State win another title.

My parents took me to the airport to greet the team in both '82 and '86

I didn't live in SC yet in '82. I do remember being at a Youth Group function at my church and John Shaffer (sp?) was there and waiting to hear if the got drafted. Didn't happen.

Does anyone else think that colleges are going to start recruiting great athletes and try to make them into double threat QB's? Is this where football is headed?

I've tossed around the idea in my head of having two of those in the backfield. 2 QB's at the same time may be the next frontier.

Probably. But then again there are not that many VYoung's or Michael Vick's around. I wonder what would happen if Bush was a QB on his HS team instead of RB, and was recruited as a QB?

Hmm... I think the fans of LSU care. You are basically saying that their national championship didn't count while yours did, despite not actually winning it.

Wow... I feel young... I wasn't even alive for those...

fortunately football teams are far more experimental than baseball teams. I think if Vick and Young are successful in the NFL, you might see that trend. Otherwise isn't it just old school college football?

They did the best they could with 3 undefeated teams I guess.

I just don't like LSU getting forgotten in the face of a "good story". Is the BCS flawed? Sure, but if that's the season, you can't pick and choose when it suits you and when it doesn't. LSU won the BCS trophy that year period.

... and that is why college sports will always be better than professional sports (except baseball).

Just my opinion. What an amazing game.

agreed. The NFL and NBA don't come close to matching the intensity of college football and college basketball.

no, I'm saying they both count, which is the fairest solution in my opinion.

Winning for a school/students always trumps winning for a city (read: winning for cash)

also, remember texas missed the PAT after the disputed TD. usc was probably glad that didn't get called back, as they probably would have given up 7 instead of 6 if he had been ruled down.

Leinart is saying that USC lost (instead of Texas won).

What a prick. Hope he knocks up that Laguna Beach chick and gets gential herpes.

I don't think there will be a movement. While there will be players like Vick and Young, they will be rare and being QB is a very difficult position. Throwing the ball accurately is really hard.

Micheal Robinson is an example of a very athletic WR moved to QB, and while he has had some success, he probably won't make a big splash in the NFL, at least not as a QB, but I could see him moved back to WR.

I think that's the price they pay for being LSU and not USC. No one will remember how great Illinois was last year because the story was UNC. Big stories dominate. I see your point that its not fair, but I wouldn't be so hung up on it. USC has a right to claim a three year string of greatness.

True. As long as NFL offenses aren't open to the option/QB as a runner scheme, these types will likely be relegated to college only.

Meanwhile college baseball doesn't get a large enough following.

Probably because the powerhouse programs aren't in major cities (or the east coast)

the other thing to consider is the money. teams don't like to see million dollar qbs taking running back hits.

yeah i saw that too. Me and my buddies pretty much said the same thing about him. USC's offense did a great job against Texas' defense, but they did not lose the game. Vince Young stepped up and won it. Why couldn't Leinart just man up to Texas and say they played one hell of a ballgame?

Sorry. I hate it when someone loses and then doesn't give any credit to the team that won. "They didn't beat us, we lost." STFU dude. (not you, Leinart)
