i'm pretty upset over this loss. the sports gods don't seem to ber with UI right now. i mean, it's not fair that a team like PSU gets to beat the hell out of us during football season and then beat us in a sport in which we're supposed to be better.

I'm PO as well, should have never been that close in the first place. I guess our only recourse is to hope they learn from this loss, use it to play stronger down the stretch. I'd like to see the Illini play PSU in the Big Ten tournament, those gimmick zones combined with Parker having the game of his life worked once, will it work again?

ah, the cry of Illini nation. No way Penn State could have just won. It was all aqbout "gimmick zones" and "career games"

you lost, live with it

yep, we lost. congratulations. imagine if penn state had been beaten in football by the illini, you'd be pretty upset.

unfortunately, the sports gods would never let that happen. the illini, in the history of their sports program, have never pulled an upset the size of what happened against PSU. and never will--just like i will never, ever, ever, pull the river card that i need to lay a bad beat down on someone.

illini fans, it's all my fault. and derwood, be happy that i'm not a PSU fan.

At least you didn't lose to fricken Purdue.

I'll be darned. From Merriam-Webster:

Main Entry: em·bar·rass

Pronunciation: im-'bar-&s

Function: transitive verb

Etymology: French embarrasser, from Spanish embarazar, from Portuguese embaraçar, from em- (from Latin in-) + baraça noose

1 a : to lose to Purdue this season b : to involve in financial difficulties c : to cause to experience a state of self-conscious distress

If Illinois had beat PSU I certainly would not have come on here and said that it was because they were all razzle dazzle and no substance.

You can still take comfort in the fact that you're a lock for the NCAA tourney and PSU would be lucky to get an NIT bid

But you'd likely be able to identify that 49 out of 50 times PSU would have won that football game.

Penn State won, they deserved to win. Should they meet in the Big 10 tournament, with the Illini having seen their zones, will it be Louis-Schmeling II or will Penn State have a chance?

Not trying to kick Illinois when they're down (really I'm not) but Illinois fans were just ragging on us for rushing the court after the Indiana win. And tonight the Orange Krush storms the court after thinking they beat PSU?

I'm seriously not trying to start a pissing match, I just find it ironic.

I agree. You shouldn't celebrate beating a crap team like Penn State at home on a fluke shot that ended up not counting.

Looked silly.

I wouldn't call McBride's 3 a fluke shot. That was clutch, just a fraction of a second late. It's nice to see him gaining confidence.

Agree about rushing the court, though. Never should have happened.

There's no need to make any other excuses other than, 1) this team doesn't have a veteran leader; 2) Augustine still hasn't learned not to get into foul trouble; 3) if we had an inside game we could sustain cold outside shooting; 4) you should never blow a 16 point lead at home. Penn State never quit and we did. Penn State deserved the win. Now Illinois' meltdown last Saturday makes Sunday's game at OSU a "must" win if they want to win the Big Ten. Seriously, where's the on-floor leadership?

In Utah and Houston and wherever the hell Jack is.

Isn't Jack playing in Crete or Italy or something? Or am I thinking of someone else?

He is playing somewhere, but I cannot remember where. Either way if we had Deron back with our schedule we are probably undefeated again at this point.

IU v. Wisconsin tonight. HUGE game for both teams. Both are struggling of late and looking to try to stay in the race. Whoever loses will take a big hit.

Calloway is getting the start tonight for the Hoosiers. That's one thing I find strange (and sometimes frustrating) about Davis. A guy can go from average minutes (10-15) per game, to the dog house (barely sniffing the floor, if getting out there at all), to starting in the span of three or four games. It seems that 20 games into the season, one would have a better understanding of who's going to contribute what, and in what role. Anyway, I hope it works. :fingerscrossed:

All,

There are no more "big" games for the Hoosiers this year. IU scored 22 points in the first half....There is no longer any need to discuss the lack of depth in the paint or being entirely reliant on the three or taking contested shots instead of moving the ba...bah

Good luck to Iowa, UI, Michigan, M. State, Minnesota..etc.

Put a #1 by Wisconsin and maybe the Davis and his players will show some freakin effort. No excuse for this bullcrap.

Once again, the Iowa/Northwestern matchup is producing one heck of a game. And once again, I'm not there. Stupid cold.

Jenkins throws it off the leg of a Hawkeye right before going out of bounds and Northwestern has the ball with :09 left and up by 1 after Vedran converts the three-point play! Gotta hit your free throws now.

yeah I had a cold last week, it sucks.

please hold onto this NU. A win sends Illinois back into a tie for 1st :)

Smart coaching as they send the Hawkeyes to the line with 3-point deficit and just seconds left on the clock.

The Wildcats continue to own Iowa in Evanston with yet another upset! What a game. 51-48 the final. Edited by Jon

Players continue to regress under Davis. Vaden ought to be a superstar in the Big 10. Ratliff looked better as a snot nosed freshman. Additionally, terrible offense, not only in execution, but in design.

At this rate, Davis had better go deep in the NCAA or win the Big 10 Tourney. What a lousy team.

Vedran finished with 26 points, including 5-9 from beyond the arc, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. That's 5 games out of the last 6 in Evanston that the 'Cats have beaten the Hawkeyes.

And congrats to Evan Seacat for draining a huge three late.
