I know how you all love the guy, so I'm posting it here.

As a Cards fan, I in no way, shape, or form do this deal as rumored for Cano and Wang from the Yankees.

People think he had a down year last year, but he still posted a .263, .384, .927 line.

Even for 11 or 12 mil with his CF position and defense factored in, I'm not making this or any deal for Edmonds, inevitable age decline or not. You don't make a deal to weaken your team just because your money is running out and you need to fill holes.

Say no to trading Edmonds (plus I'm pretty sure he's a 10-5 guy)! Besides, who else would you guys love to hate? Morris is probably gone, it's not Pujols or Rolen according to most here.

I love to hate that cup caresser. if you need photographic evidence of that, it exists.

cano and wang? could those two be more overrated? edmonds is worth far more, especially since we're talking about the Yankees, who could easily eat Edmonds's contract. i'd look more at talent level in that deal, since the yankees are in it (not dropping edmonds's value b/c of money due him). i hate edmonds, but he's very valuable, especially as a CF.

edmonds did drop 140 OPS points last year, but when you're still well above .900, how much can you complain?

there's a fairly large drop off between edmonds/griffey/jones and the rest of the pack in CF.

ok, the edmonds love is making me sick. must. stop. now. :-&

That rumor has no legs because Jocketty is too intelligent to ship his 2nd best offensive player for an overrated 2B and a end of the rotation guy.

I wouldn't trade Edmonds either, but I'm wondering what makes people say that Cano is "overrated".

He's 23 years old, put up solid minor league numbers, and had a .778 OPS in his rookie year......... not bad for a middle infielder. I realize he's not a gold-glover, but I don't think he's horrible, either.

Anybody?

He's a decent ballplayer and could be great someday. But he's not as good right now as people say he is. He finished ahead of Jonny Gomes in the Rookie of the Year voting even though Gomes had him beat in pretty much every category except for playing time and team he played for.

Boston would have to eat a ton of Manny's contract for it to work, STL can't afford to add 10 mil to their payroll and still have holes at CF, LF, 2B, bullpen, and bench with about 10 mil to spend after the trade.

It'd give them the best 1-2 punch in the game as well as a healthy Rolen, but the rest of the team would be in trouble.

Wouldn't you like to see Manny playing RF for the Cards, I'd rather see him play CF? :)

Hoo boy, could you imagine the possibilities for jokes if the Cardinals shipped Edmonds to the Yankees? Cripes, they already have A-Rod and Jeter on that roster; it'd be a complete and total zoo if Edmonds was tossed into the mix.

Personally, I think it would be better if he got traded to San Francisco. But that's just me.

Manny played rightfield exclusively when he was in Cleveland. If I remember correctly, he says he prefers it to playing left.

Manny in CF would be fun to watch. I still see Edmonds going to Boston and possibly the Yanks if they find a way to scrap up some players to make it work.
