alot of lopsided trades are due to salary dumps. some are lopsided only in retrospect.

does anyone remember a trade this lopsided without some sort of intervening factor like the above?

This WAS a salary dump for the Rangers. Soriano is going to make something like 10 million if I've read correctly. And yet the Rangers still got, by FAR, the better of the deal.

Newsday says the Mets and Rangers are discussing a deal sending Kris Benson to Texas for Laynce Nix and Juan Dominguez.

The Mets wouldn't seem to have a lot of use for either, but those two are still worth quite a bit more than Benson at $15 million over the next two years. Nix would probably be moved in another deal for relief help (to Florida for Ron Villone?). Dominguez could turn into a setup man if that's how the Mets elect to use him. Dec. 8 - 12:56 am et

Is this the next move?

Benson isn't great, but the Rangers would basically be giving the Mets nothing and he'd be an upgrade to the pitching staff. Texas could be pretty good before too long if they keep this up.

that's what I'm saying. the Nats took a huge chunk of salary, gave up a player better than the one they got, and tossed in a potentially very good player and PTBNL.

it just doesn't make sense. is ML just trying to devalue the Nats to the point where someone will actually buy them?

That would be a logical reason for picking Bowden as their GM. :D

Never was official. Royals got Redman instead.

Trying to tell me both clubs wouldnt be MUCH better off if we would have traded Walker+Welly(prospect?) to them for just Wilkerson???

Jebus Bowden.

Thank god, now we can't get Soriano.
=D> or Wilkerson, who many have been enamored with his power hitting -- 11 homeruns in 565 at bats . :-k

With a bad shoulder in an extreme pitcher's park in a pitcher's division.

He's a 25+ home run guy. With a .370 OBP. Playing a just about serviceable CF.

What an amazing trade by the Rangers, absolutely amazing. Words go beyond describingly ridiculous by Bowden.

Their OF situation right now, for the record, is...

Dellucci, Matthews, Mench, Nix, Wilkerson, Sledge.

Hmm, I really have no idea what they're planning there, so whether this means Wilkerson is off the table or not, I don't know.

no, he actually had a hole open up. The Rangers 2B spot is wide open. Wilkerson is probably available, still.

and if hendry is so hot to trade walker, it should be for wilkerson, not mench.

walker + williams/minor leaguer for wilkerson.

TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRMELLLLLLLL

you only spelled it that way because you didn't know how many r's and l's you actually needed.

Nonsense, I knew there was two R's. Have you forgotten I was your sole companion on the Sledge bandwagon last offseason? :(
