If I were the Rangers, I would have been happy with Wilkerson for Soriano straight up.

This WAS a salary dump for the Rangers. Soriano is going to make something like 10 million if I've read correctly. And yet the Rangers still got, by FAR, the better of the deal.

Newsday says the Mets and Rangers are discussing a deal sending Kris Benson to Texas for Laynce Nix and Juan Dominguez.

The Mets wouldn't seem to have a lot of use for either, but those two are still worth quite a bit more than Benson at $15 million over the next two years. Benson isn't great, but the Rangers would basically be giving the Mets nothing and he'd be an upgrade to the pitching staff. Texas could be pretty good before too long if they keep this up.
