  1. Looks like it’s Bryce Elder v Javier Assad, and the Chuck Morton v Ace Miller. Small consolation they don’t face Strider.
  2. Completely random thought based on nothing other than it came to mind, but former Cubs coach Brandon Hyde has done a really nice job in Baltimore. His team lost 108 games in 2019 (his first season) and 110 games the year after the Covid season. He gets them just over .500 last year, and this year has them with the best record in the AL heading into August. Props to him!!
  3. For what it's worth, JD thought the bunt in the 9th was the "right play" but poorly executed, mostly because Amaya didn't hustle to first.
  4. After Stroman gave up a double in the 4th inning, the bullpen retired 17 of the next 18 batters, striking out 4 and walking none. Unsung heroes of the game.
  5. I would love for them to be buyers and have it work out. I’m just afraid they’ll go at it half-assed, kinda like free agency so often, and not really make the team better. But at least, ya know, they’re trying.
  6. Once Stone got the “Hawk funk” on him, he hasn’t been able to get it off. He is a shell of his former “baseball analyst”. And often his predictions are like a blind squirrel that eventually finds a nut.
  7. Can the Cubs let Stroman bat and have Morel DH the catcher position?
  8. Lynn has given up 28 dingers in 115 innings, Next highest is 24.
  9. Here's a pretty useless stat/observation from tonight's game: Cody Bellinger was 0 for 5 with 2 Ks. Not good. But, in 5 plate appearances, he saw 33 pitches, 30 in the first 4 ABs. The Sox pitchers only threw 160 total pitches. So Belly saw about 20% of the pitches. Just found it interesting.
  10. Radar from Accuweather an hour from now. (don't know how to transfer this to an image) I think the bigger issue is in an hour.
  11. They aren't trading either. They'll hope to get back in the playoff contention when the reality is, they're too far behind to do any serious damage. I mean, what, they'll get a game or two over .500, sneak in, and win the WS?? Like that can happen.
  12. Mervis is still down working on a minor swing change, right?
  13. Wisdom gonna "pitch count" Stro outta the game.
  14. Not certain if this is correct forum for this type of question, but what the hell. Francisco Alvarez was the MLB and the Mets top prospect last season. This season, he’s the Mets starting catcher with a 303/534/837 slash. This year Kevin Parada, another catcher, is the Mets top ranked prospect and #40 overal per MLB. Is there an equitable match with the Cubs as a far as a prospect for prospect(s) trade goes? And if so, what might the Cubs need to give up? The Mets don’t have many highly ranked OF prospects, And the Cubs seem to have several. Wouldn’t want to deal PCA back, but could Alcantara, Canaria, Davis or Caissie be a starting point with another lesser/lottery pick(s) as a sweetne?
  15. Two on, nobody out. I'd be shocked if Wisdom doesn't hit into DP or K.
  16. Jeimer Candelario and Matt Chapman are probably the two most enticing. Maybe Joey Wendle, Kiner-Falefa, Urshela Then there's a bunch of really old dudes: Donaldson, Longoria, Turner, Moustakas, Escobar (club option) Followed by (old) trash: Carpenter, Duffy, Anderson Javy has a $25 million opt-out. Definitely could handle 3B. Would he be worth exploring?
  17. With Happ, Suzuki, and Wisdom not hitting for the past couple of weeks, it only emphasizes the inability of the other dregs in the lineup.
