    Rios with the rare start. But the not-so-rare 0-2 with 2Ks. He now has struck out 13 times in 25 ABs to go with his 2 hits. Probably a reason the Dodgers gave up on him.

    Can anyone explain why Edwin Rios is on the roster. On one hand, they basically never use him. On the other hand, he strikes out about 50% of the time.

    Interesting (or annoying) that Ross stacked the lineup with LHH when Greene’s splits against LHHs favor him considerably.

    Not suggesting he shouldn’t be in the lineup, but doesn’t he struggle against velocity pitchers?

    Hunter Greene v Justin Steele 1:20 PM on Marquee or MLBTV if you're not in Chicago, or Bally Ohio if you're in the 'nati area One or both of these teams will occupy last place in the division by Sunday evening. Hooray.

    Totally get the sentiment here. But Kyle almost certainly won't be around this team in a few years regardless. I certainly wouldn't give him away. But if the Cubs are not really in contention. and they can get a decent return that has greater possibilities of helping the team in the future, then make the move. But here's hoping for a good/decent return to the mound tonight.

    I hope he pitches well enough over the next two months to have some trade value netting a decent low prospect or player.

    Cubs started out 12-9 (on April 21) and were 14-10 in their first 24 games. In the next 24, the Cubs went 8-16. wonder if there's recency bias in the grade. I'd give the Cubs a C, maybe even a C+. They played over their heads early on, but I don't think the team is nearly as bad as the 6-16 stretch. They had some bad luck and lost too many 1-run games.

    Very small sample size, but he hasn’t fared well in his “away” starts.

    If my math is correct, I believe Morel is on pace for 783 HRs this season.

    I had pizza for lunch. Rocco's Chicago in Tucson. Full disclosure - it was thin crust, yet delicious. Mervis on base three times (so far) is nice.

    Zaidman has a face for radio, and a voice for....well, I have no idea. But it ain't sports play by play. I have no reason to believe he's anything other than a decent human being. But there's something about him that makes me want to punch him in the face if I ever saw him.
