  1. KInda of a dumb thought that just popped in my head, but I thought I'd share. I've actually have thought about this in the past several times. I know it's "tradition" and MLB is the oldest of all the major sports leagues, but is there any reason managers and coaches still wear the baseball uniform during games? None of the other sports leagues do this, nor do I think they ever have. I know coaching staffs have altered this a bit over the years by sometimes wearing the pullover/workout jersey, etc. Just seems like this would've maybe faded out over the years.
  2. I know it's only been a 3-game losing streak (so far), but the way the Cubs have played the last few games makes me think they are incapable of winning another game this season.
  3. And he gets the Perfect Game!! Congrats to German!
  4. Jared Young with a no-doubter in his first AB, 425 to right center.
  5. Don't know that it will factor into the outcome of the game or Smyly's outing, but that silly lob toss error by him cost him an additional 12 pitches. Retired the side in order on 10 pitches but for the error. After 22 pitches, he gets out of the first unscathed.
  6. Cubs games are so much more enjoyable when they win.
  7. Madrigal = I keep hoping the oft-injured Heuer is the “piece” from the CK trade.
  8. Nicky “one-hops” the RF wall. I marked my calendar.
  9. So the Cubs win last night. That means a streak starts today, right? And I’m not talking about Winning streak.
  10. Not really game related, more broadcast related. Who at Nissan thought it would be a good idea to be the "on air" sponsor of the segment called Breakdown??
  11. The Cubs put one ball in play in the first inning. There were no strikeouts. There were no double or triple plays. They get two BBs. And go down in order (basically). That's so Cub.
  12. They aren’t in a slump. They’re just bad. What could they get in a trade of Dansby?
  13. Billy McKinney sighting earlier today with the Yanks.
  14. Hot Take Cubs know they're basically out of it already because they just don't have the talent (let alone depth). So they're gonna ride Wisdom, Mancini, a few of the relievers, maybe even Madrigal hoping they get lucky one gets on a mini heater. More trade value. No trade value sitting on the bench not getting ABs. Cubs go young immediately following the ASB.
  15. Much like the Cubs, the “Game Thread Starter” thread died in May.
  16. Happ crushes one to CF, but about a foot short of clearing the fence. Long out. Bottom of the inning, Troutlifts the ball sky high to RCF. If it’s a couple feet shorter, Tauchman makes the catch. That’s so Cub.
  17. Cade with 3 Ks in the 1st inning for a south Bend.
  18. Not that I went out on any limb yesterday, but (predictably) spot on.
  19. Cliff notes version of why the ejection happened? I missed it. I'm guessing the Cuzzi strike zone.
