  1. Brendon Little to the Blue Jays for cash.
  2. This has to be a little bit of a concern, no? Wonder, if like Maddon, this board will eventually hate Counsel.
  3. Happ is the clumsiest looking two-time gold glove winner ever.
  4. I believe strength of schedule.
  5. Knee-jerk reactions are common about young players.
  6. A certain poster's favorite shining brightly again.
  7. Loving what Jedd Fisch is doing in Arizona. Big win against the #11 Beav. They're three losses are by 7 @Miss State in OT, by 7 against #5 Washington, and by 2 to USC in 3 OTs. They are fun to follow.
  8. And I'll add Don Majowski, a 10th Rounder from 1987 as a pretty good draft pick who was "Wally Pipped" by another HoF'er. Injured throwing shoulder and never recovered fully.
  9. Since 1992, the Packers have drafted the following QBs (when drafting wasn't really a need): 1992 - Ty Detmer - 9th Round great for a 9th rounder 8-year career, 25 starts, 34 TDs 11-14 record 1993 - Mark Brunell - 5th Round Excellent pick, 17-year career, 3x Pro Bowl, 184 TDs, 78-73 record 1995 - Jay Barker - 5th Round 1996 - Kyle Wacholtz - 5th Round 1997 Ronnie McAda - 7th Round 1998 - Matt Hasselbeck - 6th Round Excellent Pick, 17-year career, 3x Pro Bowl, 212 TDs, 85-75 record 1999 Aaron Brooks - 4th Round Pretty solid 4th Rounder, 7-year career, 90 starts, 123 TDs 2002 - Craig Nall - 5th Round 2005 - Aaron Rodgers - 1st Round 2006 - Ingle Martin - 5th Round 2008 - Brian Brohm - 2nd Round (BAD PICK, complete bust) 2008 - Matt Flynn - 7th Round 7-year career, 17 TDs, 3-4 record, very good backup for GB 2012 - BJ Coleman - 7th Round 2015 - Brett Hundley - 5th Round 2020 - Jordan Love - 1st Round 2023 - Sean Clifford - 5th Round Two First Round picks and a Second Rounder netted: AR (HoF), Brohm (bad pick), and Love (current starter with 7 starts in career) The remaining picks were 1 Fourth and a bunch of Fifth Rounders or later. The fact that they've grabbed Brunell, Hassellbeck, Brooks, and Detmer in those picks is pretty solid drafting when they weren't drafting for need in those years.
  10. “And ‘Run Packers Run’ is making her move on the back stretch from the outside!!!! “
  11. Somehow I have absolutely no recollection of Texas being in the World Series. Twice. In consecutive years.
  12. Offensive Line is currently average at best. No WR or TE on roster has even started 17 games yet in their entire careers, Aaron Jones played in only his second game. They have the youngest roster in the NFL magnified by the offensive side of the ball. And it’s only game 6 of his first year starting. Lots of intangibles. But he hasn’t been very good, average at best.
  13. Well, given how often the bullpen was used, is it really any wonder why so many of them are/were injured.
  14. I wonder if the Bears know Maxx Crosby is really good. The Packers either figured this out late or were dismissive of the fact.
  15. I don't put much stock in one game, especially the first of the season. As a fan, sure it was nice to see him have a pretty good game. But most Packer fans know it was one game. Just like I don't put much stock in last night's game. It's his first year as a starter following a legend. I'll wait to make a serious judgment until season's end. Same for the young receiving core.
  16. NFL “analysts” talk way too much. The O-line wasn’t stellar but they played well enough. Love had a bad game and has benn only so-so since week 1. His most veteran WR or (real) TE has played a total of 17 NFL games prior to tonight. There will certainly be growing pains there, too.
  17. I believe this was the "national game" before the season started. CBS and Fox alternate weeks of having the doubleheader. CBS had it this week, and the Chiefs/Vikes game was the national game. That means Fox only gets to show one game, either the early or late.
  18. Wonder if they get Theo 2.0
  19. Most everyone is the Cubs bullpen has moved down in the pecking order. And that’s the problem. There’s a pretty big gap between the few reliable arms and all of the other (overused) “just arms”. It’s been pretty consistent that the Cubs 6, 7, and 8 inning guys all have regular bouts of “can’t throw a strike” and/or “can’t get the third out”. There really are no sure bets. It’s a coin flip each night for Ross.
  20. And Kris Bryant is still getting a full-time check despite being a part-time player. Good contract/signing Colorado (sarcasm). Good contract/signing KB (serious).
  21. Ross certainly seems to pull pitchers too early or leave 'em in too late. But it doesn't really help that it seems every night the reliever(s) on the mound gets himself in trouble. Tonight's a perfect example. Cuas is rolling, gets two easy out and then can't find the strike zone. I mean, this is a night in/night out occurrence for just about everyone in the pen.
  22. What was Sam Martin (the Punter) trying to do? Was that an attempt at a tackle?
