  1. I wonder if the Bears know Maxx Crosby is really good. The Packers either figured this out late or were dismissive of the fact.
  2. I don't put much stock in one game, especially the first of the season. As a fan, sure it was nice to see him have a pretty good game. But most Packer fans know it was one game. Just like I don't put much stock in last night's game. It's his first year as a starter following a legend. I'll wait to make a serious judgment until season's end. Same for the young receiving core.
  3. NFL “analysts” talk way too much. The O-line wasn’t stellar but they played well enough. Love had a bad game and has benn only so-so since week 1. His most veteran WR or (real) TE has played a total of 17 NFL games prior to tonight. There will certainly be growing pains there, too.
  4. I believe this was the "national game" before the season started. CBS and Fox alternate weeks of having the doubleheader. CBS had it this week, and the Chiefs/Vikes game was the national game. That means Fox only gets to show one game, either the early or late.
  5. Wonder if they get Theo 2.0
  6. Most everyone is the Cubs bullpen has moved down in the pecking order. And that’s the problem. There’s a pretty big gap between the few reliable arms and all of the other (overused) “just arms”. It’s been pretty consistent that the Cubs 6, 7, and 8 inning guys all have regular bouts of “can’t throw a strike” and/or “can’t get the third out”. There really are no sure bets. It’s a coin flip each night for Ross.
  7. And Kris Bryant is still getting a full-time check despite being a part-time player. Good contract/signing Colorado (sarcasm). Good contract/signing KB (serious).
  8. Ross certainly seems to pull pitchers too early or leave 'em in too late. But it doesn't really help that it seems every night the reliever(s) on the mound gets himself in trouble. Tonight's a perfect example. Cuas is rolling, gets two easy out and then can't find the strike zone. I mean, this is a night in/night out occurrence for just about everyone in the pen.
  9. What was Sam Martin (the Punter) trying to do? Was that an attempt at a tackle?
  10. 65%, but who's counting. They still get no worse than a 2nd if he doesn't play at all. And if he doesn't play, there's a good chance that 2nd won't be too far off from the 1st if he did play.
  11. Susyn Waldman may be a pioneer but she sucks too. Would take her in a heartbeat over the Ginger Zaidman. Roger Clemens is in the Box
  12. Zaidman sucks. I'd rather listen to that obnoxious lady the Yankees had a decade or so ago (maybe longer).
  13. My first radio guy that I remember was Vince Lloyd. He was good but by todays standards he would be just so so. Radio and TVbroadcast are so “hi-tech” nowadays. But he was oft paired with the “good kid” Lou Boudreaux who would cause drying paint to fall asleep.
  14. Another reason so many people question and/or are puzzled by PFF grades. Love has the highest QBR so far in Week 1. I thought Love was good, made some plays, and didn’t really do anything to hurt the Packers. Certainly areas to improve to all in all a pretty good performance. As far as Fields, I’m as baffled as many of you why he/the coaches didn’t take many shots beyond 10 yards. Maybe not early or in the first half. But by late in the second half, let it go. Anyway, it’s Game 1/Preseason Game 4. No team or fan too should be too high or too low after 1 week. Niners crapped the bed last year in week 1 and won 14 of the next 16 games.
  15. I thought Wayne Larivee brought some excitement to games and was really solid broadcasting on the radio.
  16. I don’t see anything special about Pat Hughes , radio or TV. He’s fine, but I don’t think there’s really anything extraordinary about him.
  17. Sox up by a run in the bottom of the 9th. And here's how it unfolds: -error on a simple grounder by T. Anderson -soft hit floater single to left -fielder's choice, out at second -with runners on the corners, Witt lines a double to RF; TIE GAME -lineout to SS, runners still on second and third -IBB to load 'em up -BALK on first attempted pitch, GAME OVER They are horrible and I think they may have mostly given up. Good Luck Chris Getz.
  18. And the 1st inning “HR allowed” fest continues, sans Steele starts.
  19. I would prefer Canario’s first big league at bat NOT be during a critical point late in a game. Especially down the stretch run. That’s why I thought a good start would’ve been against a somewhat ordinary left-handed starting pitcher on Saturday. Get his feet wet.

  21. Incidentally, they're 1-0-2 in the three 2-game series. Another net gain in wins over losses.
  22. Win 3-game series, and splits in 2 and 4-game series is pretty realistic for most good teams. That an average of a 90-win pace in a season. And the Cubs started 0-2-2 in their first four 4-game sets. Finished 3-0-2 in their five 4 game sets for a respectable 3-2-4. That a net gain in wins over losses.
