  1. Jones had the best year of all possible LF free agent options. He was far from a junk player. . . . .but I know what you mean about the Cubs and FA signings. In my lifetime, the best one they've had was the one that gave 'em a blank contract and the cubs proceeded to give him a low ball salary. Pure luck was the only reason we got the Hawk.
  2. aw, come on. Who doesn't like some boobage every now and again?
  3. I meant to add Jim Rice in my list. . .. oops
  4. Well what it really means is you have to put those numbers in context. Andre Dawson, Will Clark, and Alan Trammell (and Will Clark) whole heartedly agree with you.
  5. statistically, he's as good and maybe better than DLee. DLee had the one outstanding year.
  6. What about douchebag players and/or coaches? Same rules apply. . . their douchebaggery is their problem. I simply feel like it's more important to put your energy into supporting your team rather than degrading the opposition. What if your team is horrible and is managed by Dusty Baker? You support them, but it huts like a sonofbitch.. . . . .

  8. I am a Cub fan. I DO NOT hate any team. I don't care who wins the World Series unless it is the Cubs playing in it. I see no reason -- douchebag fans or not -- to despise another team.

  10. throws from the pitcher's mound to 1st base are way overrated.
  11. i love America. However, just sing the national anthem then PLAY BALL.
  12. maz was mediocre, regardless of position
  13. He's the greatest non-all star lead off hitter in RBI baseball.
  14. God Bless America, my home sweet HAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHM!!!!!! Wow, I think Ms. Hudson tried a just a weeee bit too hard. Just sing the damned song. Don't over do it.
  15. the national anthem is offensive to non-citizens that may be watching the game. you can't show stuff like that on TV.
  16. i looked at Baker on the fancy picture box last night. he's a nice man with funny looking fake broad shoulders.
  17. Pie Can play CF for the Cubs, but they'll have to get rid of Jones and sign or trade for a legit power hitter in his place (and keep murton in LF). Pie can do okay in a lineup where he isn't expected to produce any more than a typical 8 hitter.
  18. I think he makes a good point. There are times when it really doesn't matter if you're Alber Pujols or Freddy Bynum --- get it in the wind and it's gone. It's the games that you can't rely on the 3 run homer where a misplayed single can kill you.
  19. Hitting coach might be okay for Ryno. He always had a good approach at the plate, so maybe that translates to the team. Who knows. I'd hate to see Ryno as the manager. He'd get fired and I'd hate to see cub fans bash Ryno like they've bashed Baker.
  20. there is no "I" in "Lou."
  21. If ARam doesnt want to play in chicago because the manager will chew on his ass if he loafs, then it's okay with me if ARam is playing elsewhere next year. I can't possibly imagine that is true. I think the likely case is that Aramis is simply waiting to find out who the skipper is . . . .I don't necessarily think he was wanting one guy over another. He might have just wanted to know before he got into negotiations. Sometimes, as fans, we over analyze things. . . .I'm guilty of it.
  22. a healthy combination of youth and FA signings is exactly what the Cubs are poised to do. Murton and Hill are young. Heck, Z can still be considered a youngster. That's about as many as Detroit is trotting out there. Nevermind that we could have a guy like Marshall in the rotation as well. . . or a little youth in the 'pen. It's not like we have to sign 5 or 6 FA's. Signing 2 big guns wouldn't hurt -- one pitcher and one big bat. We're a lot closer than we may think. I really think the insane amount of injuries has clouded our view on what this team could be.
  23. I like the 2 wild card idea, too. anything that makes it more difficult for the WC to make it is okay with me.
  24. Don't expect a lot of company. Sure, we'll start out with just a few, but there will always be room for cub fans ;) I'll save you a window seat so you can keep building the autograph collection. Funny, but it was just a few days / weeks ago that I was firmly against Lou.
